2024 TVS Apache RR 310 Track Experience: New grit, familiar aggression!


A hot, sunny morning in Coimbatore is not an ideal setting for most people, especially when you are about to hit the track in full riding gear. But as soon as I stood outside the crater, I saw a view of 2024 TVS Apache RR 310 Waiting for me to jump on the saddle made it all worthwhile. on the track CoaSTTT High Performance Center increased anticipation. With its 3.72 km layout, this FIA Grade 2 facility promised a thrilling ride. Even more so when we were told that we were going to go 15-odd turns in an anti-clockwise direction, which made it even more technical. Now, before we jump into the evaluation of the flagship TVS model, let’s quickly take a look at what changes the model has got for its refreshed 2024 avatar.

While the overall design of Motorcycle Remains familiar, TVS has introduced some smart updates, like redesigned and more prominent ‘Apache’ graphics on the fairing. It also has a nice looking transparent clutch cover that will definitely attract attention during traffic stops.

One of the standout additions this time around are the winglets, which, at first glance, appear to be more of an aesthetic change rather than a performance requirement. Given the bike’s top speed of around 164 kmph, winglets are not something you would normally expect. But, as any motorcycle enthusiast will agree, they certainly don’t hurt, and they look absolutely stunning on a road-going machine. Furthermore, TVS also claims that these winglets can generate up to 3 kg of downforce. There are no performance metrics to test the claim, but the motorcycle did, indeed, hold well around corners.

TVS Apache RR 310: Engine

Mechanically, TVS has tweaked the engine to make it the most powerful version yet. The familiar 312.2cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine now produces 38 hp at 9,800rpm and 29 Nm of torque at 7,900rpm. The manufacturer has increased the power output with a combination of other changes including 10 percent lighter forged pistons, a 13 percent increase in airbox volume and optimized valve timing.

As before, this motor remains a refined motor overall. It provides consistent power all the way up but there is also vibration at high RPM. It is a ‘smooth operator’ in the mid and high revs between 3,500 and 8,500 rpm and will continue to impress in the city and on the highways.

Furthermore, it is safe to say that the engine offers a great blend of eager acceleration and linear delivery and the gear shifts were also extremely smooth, with seamless transitions especially during corners.
Talking about smooth shifts, the Apache RR 310 now boasts of an advanced electronics package, which also includes a bi-directional quick shifter. Cruise control and cornering traction control are also available in it. cornering absTPMS and even wheelie and rear lift off controls. These additions have made this bike one of the most feature-packed bikes in its segment.

TVS Apache RR 310: Handling and Ergonomics

The riding position, as it has always been, remains sporty and aggressive, with the rider leaning forward into the air. During our two 20-minute track sessions, it felt mostly comfortable, although I did feel a little wrist discomfort when pushed really hard. That said, most riders won’t be going to the track regularly, so this shouldn’t be much of a concern for the regular buyer.

The race-spec chassis and track-tuned suspension work together perfectly, making the bike feel super agile and responsive, especially when you’re pushing it hard. It remains stable in corners, giving you the confidence to lean in and really enjoy the ride. As far as braking goes, it’s spot on. It has a strong bite that lets you clear speed with ease, whether you’re charging into a corner or recovering after a mistake. And the Apache RR 310 is a forgiving motorcycle – hence a great offering for beginners. Lever feedback is also solid, giving you precise control over how much braking you want to do.

The motorcycle is priced at Rs 2.75 lakh, ex-showroom. It comes with a new bomber gray color scheme which looks stunning. TVS offers the 2024 Apache RR 310 through its BTO platform with two kits: Dynamic Kit and Dynamic Pro Kit. The Dynamic Kit, priced at Rs 18,000, includes adjustable front and rear suspension, brass-coated drive chain and TPMS. The Dynamic Pro kit, priced at Rs 16,000, adds a race-tuned Dynamic Stability Control system, which includes cornering traction control, ABS, cruise control, wheelie control and rear lift-off control.
