She added, “When I came to America at 11:30, it felt like I had arrived in the promised land and it was a wonderful experience. And here it is today. I’m shocked, I’m sad, I’m scared.” I’m scared for America, I’m scared for the Jews and it’s very painful for our youth.”
Friedman also made a sobering prediction of what such demonstrations could lead to if school administrators allowed them to grow.
“If it’s not addressed, if they don’t think about it, what will be the end product? What is the end product of any hatred and prejudice? It’s death for somebody. It could be their own death. ” Death to his opponents. Because we didn’t stop Hitler, as we had the chance during Kristallnacht, we could have stopped it, but nobody did, so I ended up in Auschwitz, and a million and a half Jewish children were murdered,” he said.
“This kind of behavior and anger and hatred can only end in tragedy,” he said. “Tragedy for everybody. Not just tragedy for the Jews, God forbid tragedy for ourselves, because this is going to be a terrible conflict. We have to find a way to stop this.”
Franklin Graham, evangelist and son of the late Billy Graham, echoed those sentiments on social media.
