Omar wrote on X, “Throughout history, protests have been co-opted and demonized so that police and public leaders can shut them down. That’s what we’re seeing now at Columbia University.”

Social media videos from days of anti-Israel protests on Columbia’s campus show activists celebrating the deaths of Israeli soldiers and showing support for Hamas. Jewish students have reported feeling unsafe on campus and shared stories of being verbally and physically attacked.
