Lucknow: Around 32 lakh candidates appeared for the examination for more than 60,000 vacant posts in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh State Transport Corporation is providing free bus services to the candidates, which also includes free travel in electric buses in many districts.
According to an official statement issued on Saturday evening, examination centres in UPPRPB and adjoining areas, which had earlier been dogged by allegations of paper leak, witnessed a high level of security this time and Aadhaar verification of all candidates was carried out.
Besides, 16,440 examination rooms in 1,174 centres across the state were equipped with CCTVs and monitored by artificial intelligence, while over 2,300 magistrates and over one lakh police personnel were deployed for duty.
Adityanath posted on Twitter in Hindi, “Hearty congratulations to all the candidates for the fair, transparent and peaceful completion of the written examination-2023 conducted for the selection of more than 60,200 posts of constable civil police.”
He said, “Infinite best wishes to all the energetic and disciplined youth who took part in the examination, may they get the desired results and may everyone have a bright future!”
He said, “Heartfelt thanks to all the people who helped in conducting the world’s largest civil police recruitment examination successfully and safely, to the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board and the district administration of all the districts.”
The Chief Minister said that more than 15,000 women would be recruited in the selection process of over 60,000 police constables.
He said, “The examination was conducted fairly and smoothly; this will further enrich the model of security and good governance in Uttar Pradesh.”
According to the official statement, more than 32 lakh candidates appeared in the examination, which was held in two phases over five days.
“The Uttar Pradesh government has maintained transparency and integrity through unprecedented measures, including conducting examinations exclusively in government schools to ensure fairness,” the statement said.
Every necessary step was taken to avoid any inconvenience to the candidates. For this, 2,300 magistrates and 1,97,859 policemen were deployed, while CCTV cameras equipped with artificial intelligence were installed to monitor the proceedings.
It said that cheaters and solver gangs were kept away due to security arrangements inside and outside the examination centres.
Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh Police maintained a vigilant monitor on various platforms including WhatsApp and social media, and intelligence agencies remained on 24-hour alert to deal with any potential trouble.
Apart from strict monitoring, the board also conducted Aadhaar verification for candidates before the exam. It said Aadhaar details of 85 per cent of the candidates were confirmed while the remaining 15 per cent had to undergo eKYC verification at the exam centres to curb fraudsters.
“Data analysis was also an important part of measuring the integrity of the exam. Candidates’ data was matched within half an hour of the start of the paper in each shift. Any discrepancy led to immediate action, and a list of suspects was provided to the nodal officers for follow-up action,” the release said.
“This intensive approach not only reduced cheating but also led to the arrest of individuals who attempted to hack the system, thereby strengthening the sanctity of the examination,” it said.
To ensure safety and sanctity of the police recruitment exam, elaborate security arrangements were made in which 1,97,859 police personnel, including 25 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and 8 companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), were deployed, the statement said.
Additionally, 137 additional Superintendents of Police, 522 Deputy Superintendents of Police, 47,587 head constables, 86,844 constables and 26,582 women constables were also deployed.
Besides, 3,876 inspectors, comprising 3,740 male and 136 female inspectors, and 32,311 sub-inspectors, comprising 30,220 male and 2,091 female sub-inspectors have been assigned the task of supervising the examination.
74 supervisory police officers were deployed at the examination centres to further strengthen the security of the examination.
The statement said that stringent procedures were implemented for verification of candidates at the examination centres, which included physical frisking, security checks using hand-held metal detectors (HHMDs) and biometric verification through fingerprint and facial recognition.
