Pennsylvanians give mixed reviews of Harris’ stance on key issues: ‘Better than the alternative’

During Vice President Harris’ stay in Pennsylvania ahead of her debate with former President Donald Trump this week, Fox News Digital decided to ask people in Pittsburgh where they think her stance is on key issues.

More recently, Harris has faced criticism for her ambiguity on issues such as taxation — particularly around gratuities, a policy Trump had promised to end — and claims she would secure the southern border.

and last week, Harris’ campaign confirmed this to Fox News He said his positions on several immigration-related policies have changed, including decriminalizing illegal border crossings and closing detention centers.

Richard Walker of Pittsburgh said he believes Harris is in favor of allowing fracking in places like Pennsylvania — as other states like New York currently have a blanket ban on it.

As for his stance on nationalizing health care, Walker said he hasn’t heard what his stance is, but said it should be more affordable than it currently is.

When asked if she would be the best candidate to reduce the increased prices of groceries and other items, Walker suggested she would be, but also said she had seen the price increases before she and President Joe Biden took office.

Walker also indicated the same Border crisisHe believes Harris is trying to secure the border, but this has been a problem for a long time.

He told Fox News Digital he’s not sure whether Harris would win her home state, calling it a “toss-up” — but suggested she has a good chance of winning next week’s debate.

“I hope that happens,” he said.

On Penn Avenue, Tyrone Murray, wearing a classic green and white Randall Cunningham jersey, joked that he wouldn’t look like a typical Pittsburgher in such an outfit.

But, he said he’s from the Steel City and believes Harris will win statewide in November.

“I think women will take the lead,” he said. “I think that’s their margin of victory — women’s (votes), period.”

He appeared to agree with Walker that the border The crisis has been going on for a long timeAnd Harris is striving for that.

As for the cost of consumer goods and whether Harris would help lower them, he said, “They can’t go up any more than that.”

“Everything has been escalating since the virus outbreak. You know, it didn’t matter who the president was.”

He urged Harris to support the expansion of fracking, noting the economic and regional importance of U.S. natural gas.

Waiting for his bus in town, Ron — who declined to give his last name — said he believes Harris supports a secure southern border.

In terms of fracking, Ron said he believes Harris is more in favor of fracking, but he supports restrictions and regulation on it.

In reference to the debate he said that Harris has trouble speaking in public but gave her a good chance to win the debate and the election:

“I think that’s better than the alternative,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh resident Vijay Kumar said he believes she is more inclined toward renewable energy than fracking or drilling for fossil fuels.

Kumar said there is “always room for improvement” in border security, but he believes Harris has tried to “ask people to follow the rules” when it comes to immigration to the United States.

“I think she’s doing a good job. If the question is, can there be more that can be done? Then definitely, yes.”

Anita, at William Penn Place near the Drury Plaza Hotel, told Fox News Digital that she believes Harris supports a secure border and said she will win both the November debate and the Commonwealth of Penn.

“I think she’ll do really well (in the debate),” said Nancy, who was walking nearby with her friend Lavonte.

When asked what Harris’s position is on the border, Lavonte instead blamed Congress for failing to pass a recent compromise border bill between Senators James Lankford, R-Okla., and Kyrsten Sinema, R-Ariz.

“They’re using it as a political football,” he said. “Congress needs to get together and pass a bill that will solve this problem … you see what Trump did.”

Trump has been accused of lobbying against this law.

Local resident Charlie Kane commented that he believed Harris would win next week’s debate, calling it a “prosecutor vs. criminal” contest.

He said he believed she was the right candidate to reduce inflation in food and housing prices, adding that she “could do a better job” on border security.
