CNN anchor Erin Burnett expressed surprise at some of Vice President Kamala Harris’ far-left policy positions as a 2019 presidential candidate.
Burnett spoke to CNN senior Andrew Kaczynski on the network Monday night about a recently revealed ACLU candidate questionnaire that Harris filled out in 2019, which revealed her support for a number of far-left policies. The reporter focused on the immigration portion of the questionnaire and told Burnett that the then-presidential candidate had said she wanted to end funding for ICE and promote gender-based operations for illegal immigrants.
Burnett expressed surprise that Harris supported using taxpayer money to change genders for immigrants, to which Kaczynski responded, “When asked about that, she said in the affirmative and she also supports it for federal prisoners.”
The reporter continued to talk about Harris’ far-left pledges on the immigration front. “Now she has also promised to cut immigration detention by 50%, close all family and private facilities, and reduce funding for ICE, and then end ICE detention with local law enforcement.”
Expressing disbelief at these policy positions, Burnett said, “I mean, these are things that, you know, it would be hard to imagine that you would provide taxpayer money for gender transitions for detained immigrants, and yet, as you say, in writing and verbally.”

Burnett and Kaczynski last week took aim at the Harris administration for using images of the U.S. border wall built during the Trump administration in a recent campaign ad, even though Harris has for years denounced his wall as “useless.”

During their interview on Monday, Burnett and Kaczynski talked about Harris, who said in the questionnaire that she would support decriminalizing all illegal drug possession by the federal government.
