The Town of Santa Claus is a favorite spot for celebrating the holiday cheer any time of year.

1. Visit the city of Santa Claus

If you want to enjoy the holiday mood before the holiday season officially arrives, you can shop at the Santa Claus Christmas Store located in town and also visit the Santa Claus Museum & Village.

2. Stop at Abraham Lincoln’s childhood home
About five miles from Santa Claus is Lincoln City, where you can see the home where former President Abraham Lincoln spent much of his childhood.
Lincoln Born in Kentucky, But according to the National Park Service website, his family later moved to Indiana, where they lived from 1816 to 1830.
While there, you can visit the park museum to learn more about Lincoln’s life, visit the Lincoln Living Historical Farm, and walk the Boyhood Trail just as Lincoln did during his childhood.

3. Enjoy the Race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Museum
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is home to the famous Indy 500, which has been held since 1911, according to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway website.
The Indy 500 is typically held in May, but no matter when you’re in Indiana, this attraction is worth seeing.
Check the website to find out what events are happening during your visit.

If you’re visiting at a time when there aren’t any events happening, you can always take a tour of the track to get a behind-the-scenes look at the place.
There is also a on-site museum, But it is closed for renewal until April 2025.

4. Explore the Marengo Cave
Many tourists head to Marengo Cave when they visit Indiana.
According to the Marengo Cave website, the cave is estimated to be about one million years old but wasn’t discovered until 1883.
In 1984, Marengo Cave was named a National Natural Landmark.

The cave has tours throughout the year, with two different walking tours offered for visitors.
One is the “Crystal Palace” tour, which takes about 40 minutes, and the other is the “Dripstone Trail,” which is a 60-minute tour.
Besides the cave walking tours, there are many other activities available, such as waterfall tours and underground adventures.

If you want to stay closer to the Marengo Cave, there is a campground where you can pitch a tent or rent a cabin for a more luxurious camping experience.
5. Visit Indiana Dunes National Park
If you love camping, fishing, and hiking, then Indiana Dunes National Park is for you.
According to the National Park Service website, Dunewood Campground is open for overnight stays from April 1 through October 31, although the park is open year-round.
Don’t forget to bring your camera along as you will get to see some amazing views worth taking photos.
