World reacts cool to Trump’s second assassination attempt, some condemn political violence

While some world leaders have once again reacted to yet another assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, others have This time, the country’s leader The campaign is moving at a slow pace, just nine weeks after the first attack on the former president.

Leaders of top US allies such as Australia, Canada, Italy, Germany and France had not publicly condemned the second assassination attempt as of Monday morning.

Very few details have been released about the incident, which occurred while the former president was golfing at his club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday, and the motive of the alleged attacker, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, remains unclear.

Reactions pour in as authorities capture gunman in second Trump assassination attempt

Despite the muted response from some world leaders, others appeared to condemn political violence.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who was in the US meeting with President Biden just last week, said in a message to reporters that he was “deeply upset” by the news.

“I think it’s very important that we all be absolutely clear that violence has no role in any political process,” he said, according to multiple British news outlets.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared his reaction on social media, saying he and his wife were “shocked” by the second attempt and “relieved to hear that it also failed.”

“But we must not rely on luck,” he added. “We send our best wishes to Donald and Melania and hope that all measures will be taken to pre-empt such deadly attacks on the US presidential candidate.”

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban – who recently found itself the subject of debate He also shared his views on the growing tension in America between Trump and his Democratic rival Vice President Kamala Harris.

“It is clear that President Trump’s life is in danger until he wins,” Orban said. “We are praying for you, Mr. President!”

Trump, like Orban, is under international scrutiny for opposing Western aid to Ukraine, raising concerns over whether the U.S. would continue to arm Ukraine if he wins the election in November.

The former president has repeatedly made claims He said that if he wins a second term this fall he could end the war before he takes the top job in January 2025, though he declined to explain how he would do that or even clarify whether he supports Ukraine’s victory over Russia.

Although the FBI has not released any details about Routh’s motive, US and international media have pointed to his alleged support for Ukraine, with some reports claiming he helped recruit for Kiev’s war effort through Ukraine’s International Defense Force.

Fox News Digital could not confirm whether Routh was directly involved in the war in Ukraine through fighting or recruitment efforts, though Ukrainian officials denied reports claiming he was involved and said, “Rumors circulating in some media are not true.”

“US citizen Ryan Routh has never served in the International Legion of the Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, he has no connection to the unit, the International Legion of the Territorial Defense of Ukraine, a military unit made up of foreign volunteers fighting in the Ukrainian Ground Forces,” the organization said in a post on Instagram on Monday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made no mention of the attacker but said he was glad to hear Trump was unharmed.

“It’s good that the attempted murder suspect was quickly apprehended,” he said in a post on X. “This is our principle: the rule of law is paramount and there is no place for political violence anywhere in the world. We sincerely hope everyone stays safe.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin Although Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Monday sought to link the second assassination attempt on Trump to the attacker’s apparent support for Ukraine, he appears to have not commented publicly on the assassination attempt.

“This is not what we should think about; this is what the American intelligence services should think about,” Peskov said when asked about Sunday’s events, Reuters reported. “In any case, playing with fire has its consequences.”

Ukrainian officials said Russia was using the political violence as an attempt to stir up “conspiracy theories”.

Andrei Kovalenko, the head of Ukraine’s counter-disinformation center, said the Kremlin was “using another Trump assassination attempt against Ukraine in the information sphere.”

“The enemy will launch a lot of conspiracy theories about ‘Ukrainian traces.’ Of course, this is all a lie,” he said. According to Reuters,
