It’s not uncommon for “Dancing with the Stars” pros to be dating their partners. This dancing competition show has produced many relationships and even a few marriages.
Rachel Goldberg, LMFT, PMH-C, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Studio City, California, told Fox News Digital that the “intensity” of the show and the amount of time they spend together between practice and performances throughout the season is the perfect environment for a romantic relationship to develop.
“At first, both individuals have the same goal: to win and outperform other competitors,” he explains. “This creates an initial bond and cordial relationship. Then, they are in close proximity to each other, constantly touching, and in each other’s space, which triggers physiological responses that increase attraction.”
Goldberg also said that celebrities and professional dancers “are in a high-pressure, anxiety-filled environment where they connect with each other based on shared experiences.”
“It’s just the two of them on the field, all eyes are on them. The only person who understands what they are feeling at that moment is their partner, whom they trust completely,” he said. “They also share big emotions together, whether it’s disappointment at a low score or excitement after a win.
“Finally, these are all extremely attractive people with media-friendly personalities, which makes their connection even stronger. Ultimately, this intense, physically charged experience often leads to romantic relationships. However, whether these relationships last long term is another story.”

The couple married in 2022 and have a 4-year-old son, Matteo.
Chigvintsev was arrested on Aug. 29 after officers responded to a call reporting domestic violence. He was booked at 10:40 a.m. and released on $25,000 bail at 2:18 p.m. the same day. A court date is set for Nov. 4.
“This is a private matter, and Nikki asks for privacy for herself and her family at this time,” a rep for Nikki told Fox News Digital at the time.
Nikki filed for divorce on Sept. 11, requesting sole custody of the couple’s 4-year-old son.
