West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has released the results of Madhyamik 10th Exam 2024, bringing joy among students, parents and teachers across the state. With an impressive overall pass percentage of 86.31%, the achievements reflect the hard work and perseverance of the student body. Notable among the results is the achievement of first division by more than 1.18 lakh students, which is 12.98% of the total candidates. While the board announced cancellation of exams for 46 candidates and withholding of results of two, a notable observation is the increased participation of students. Enrollment and participation
• Female students have a higher proportion in the total enrolment, with 480,202 females compared to 396,476 males, giving a gender ratio of 55:45.
• However, in terms of those who sat for the exam, the gap has narrowed, with 477,134 women and 394,705 men taking the exam, keeping the gender ratio the same.

• Despite higher enrollment and participation of female students, the success rate among males is notable, with 89.21% of male candidates passing compared to 83.9% of female candidates. This shows the gender ratio of successful candidates to be 53:47.
• Among consistent candidates, the success rate is quite high for both genders, at 91.66% for males and 89.34% for females.

Scheduled Caste candidates
• Nominations: Among SC candidates, 108,052 women and 126,590 men were nominated, the gender ratio was 46:54.
• Participation: Of these, 10,668 SC women and 12,590 SC men appeared for the exam maintaining the same gender ratio.
• Success Rate: The success rate of women and men among SC candidates was 30:70, with 30% women and 70% men qualifying the exam.
• Compartmental Exam: A total of 198 SC candidates qualified for the compartment exam with a gender ratio of 23:77.
Scheduled Tribe candidates
• Nominations: Among ST candidates, 22,683 men and 28,035 women were nominated, with a gender ratio of 45:55.
• Participation: Maintaining equal gender ratio, 22,505 ST men and 27,807 women appeared for the exam.
• Success Rate: The success rate among ST candidates was 32:68 for women and men, with 32% women and 68% men qualifying the exam.
• Compartmental Exam: A total of 55 ST candidates qualified for the compartment exam with a gender ratio of 27:73.
