In his 25th year as an actor, kareena kapoor khan Kareena said that she still has the same passion, enthusiasm and passion that a newcomer entering Hindi cinema has for the first time. Kareena attended the official announcement of “PVRINOX 25 Years Celebration” on Wednesday. Kareena Kapoor The “Khan Festival” is a week-long film festival that will celebrate his filmography from the last two decades.
“It feels like I gave my first shot just yesterday because I have that kind of energy in me. I still have that fire, that desire, that need, that greed to be in front of the camera,” he told reporters here.
He said, “I still can’t believe it’s actually going to be 25 years. I’m so happy that everyone will get to see fun films and also some films which I think should have got more time because they will all come back and watch them again.”
The film festival will run from September 20 to September 27 in more than 30 cinema halls in 15 cities.
Kareena, the granddaughter of a legend of Hindi cinema Raj KapoorHe made his debut as an actor in 2000 with JP Dutta’s film “Refugee” opposite Abhishek Bachchan.
She soon established herself as one of Bollywood’s top leading ladies, with roles in critically acclaimed and commercially successful films such as “sometimes happy sometimes sad…”, “Yuva”, “Jasmine”, “Omkara”, “when we met“, “Talaash: The Answer Lies Within”, “Udta Punjab”, “3 Idiots”, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”, “Golmaal 3”, “Veere Di Wedding” and “Crew”.
The 43-year-old actress said that when she entered the industry, her focus was on proving herself and working in as many films as possible.
“After a decade, if you survive, it’s also a question of reinvention, which is very scary in a male-dominated industry. But in the last few years, there have been many great actresses apart from me who have also made big leaps.
Kareena said, “I have done films with big superstars and they have all been successful, but I have also had a career in which I have proved myself as an actor because I believe longevity of an actor is possible only when he proves his talent again and again.”
The actress further added that luck played a role in her success and at the same time, her eagerness to do something new was also the reason behind it.
“Every five years I look back and ask, ‘What should I do now to try something new?’ Because it’s not just about being there and being part of successful films, it’s about leaving a legacy.
She said, “I come from a family where I faced challenges and always thought they were amazing, but I had to make my mark somewhere. If it wasn’t longevity, how would it happen and how would I survive?”
Kareena also talked about two of her favourite characters – ‘Poo’ from Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ and ‘Geet’ from Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Jab We Met’.
“When we were working on Poo, at least I was following Karan’s instructions. I knew it was a very fun character, but nobody really thought that 25 years later you would still have characters based on it…
He said, “I think when you go into it with the intention of saying we have to make this character great or this has to be amazing, it’s going to be great. The magic… just has to happen. You never know when you’re making it.”
When her film “Jab We Met” with Shahid Kapoor released, the actress said that her focus was “Tashan“, the action film which also includes saif ali khanAkshay Kumar and Anil Kapoor.
“I was shooting for ‘Tashan’ simultaneously (with ‘Jab We Met’). ‘Tashan’ was a really big film because it had Akshay Kumar, Anil (Kapoor) ji, Saif Ali Khan and it was a YRF film. Whereas for ‘Jab We Met’, it felt like we were new. They had done just one film and there were no big names attached to it at that time.
“I always thought ‘Tashan’ would be an amazing film. I am working on this body (size-zero figure). I am going to do my action film.”
After the release of ‘Jab We Met’, Kareena had said that people liked this film more than ‘Tashan’.
He said, “You think, ‘Everyone will watch this (Tashan), but everyone watched that (Jab We Met).’ So, there was no real planning. I think magic should just happen. It can’t be planned, and we say it can’t be created.”
Kareena said that she never saw herself as just a brand but as a passionate artist. She credits her fans for her success and hopes that they will make different choices that can be a part of future film festivals.
“I want people to see my work, my films and know that I am an actor who is very passionate about my work. I am an actor who is loved by her fans. I am where I am after 25 years, only because of them.”
“People love to see me in those roles because it connects with people, they feel that… It’s a connection that I really appreciate. And I don’t know how. When I plan the next 25 films, hopefully there will be more films that will play in theatres here and people will enjoy it in different roles,” she said.
