Sonu Nigam shared a very emotional story about an elderly citizen who was tragically beaten to death by her own son. He explained, “A writer came to Mumbai with his elderly mother. She was old, so she would make noise when she woke up at night for water or to go to the washroom. So, this man started beating his mother. When this came to light, Mrs. Yojna took his mother under her protection and took care of her for six months. After six months, the son’s feelings changed. He started missing his mother and brought her back. A few days later, Ms. Yojna went to meet her and found that his mother was in a coma. He beat her very badly and eventually, she died. Can anyone raise a hand on his mother?
A video of elderly citizens is played in which they tell their plight. This heart-wrenching story made everyone present in the studio, including Shreya Ghoshal and others cry. Moved by the gravity of the situation, Amitabh Bachchan, Shreya and Sonu gave a standing ovation to Yojna Gharaata for his immense contribution and dedication to the Smit Foundation.
Yojana got emotional and Shreya reassured her and promised that now she will regularly come to the foundation and give her support.
