National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan says that Iranian missile attack on Israel was “defeated and ineffective” and that U.S. military Coordination was carried out with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to thwart the attacks.
Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles toward targets in Israel on Tuesday, Sullivan said at a White House briefing Tuesday, a move that was a “significant escalation.”
Iran says the attacks were in response to the deaths of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders. The move follows weeks of Israeli attacks against Tehran’s proxies in the region.

Sullivan said there were no deaths reported from the Israeli side, although the White House was monitoring the reported death of a Palestinian civilian in Jericho, in the West Bank.
“US naval destroyers joined Israeli air defense units in firing interceptors to shoot down incoming missiles.
