‘It doesn’t make any sense’: Jordan says FBI obstructed Trump campaign’s requests for briefing on Iran hack

Exclusive: The FBI is refusing to provide information about this to the House Judiciary Committee Iran has hacked the Trump campaign And on other key issues, Chairman Jim Jordan told Fox News Digital that the American people deserve to be informed before Election Day.

Jordan, R-Ohio, spoke exclusively with Fox News Digital and said he and his committee are seeking a briefing in an unclassified setting to obtain relevant information. Iran has hacked the Trump campaignAnd whether the former President and his team were given a defensive briefing on the matter.

The FBI told Fox News Digital it is committed to working with the committee, but did not say whether officials would provide information to Jordan.

“This is the hacking of the Trump campaign by iran – It looks like there was a dossier on J.D. Vance – that dossier ended up in the Harris campaign, and somehow, it got circulated in the press,” Jordan said. “There are a lot of questions, like when did you know about this? about? How did you know about this? Did you give Trump a defensive briefing? Who was the person in Harris’ campaign who got the information? How did they get the information? When did they tell you they had the information? Then how did it reach the press?”

“Those are just questions coming out of my mind,” Jordan said.

“It makes no sense, because we know that if everything turned upside down and the Iranians hacked the Harris campaign and there was a dossier on Tim Walz that got into the Trump campaign and then into the press, we know they would all Must be crazy,” Jordan said. “There’s probably already a special counsel.”

Jordan also pointed to the fact that the hack was carried out by an enemy nation—Iran.

“This is the same country that says they are trying to assassinate President Trump. This is the same country that is the chief sponsor of terrorism. This is the same country that wants to assassinate (Israeli) Prime Minister Netanyahu. And This is the same country that just sent rockets – ballistic missiles – to our best ally – the State of Israel,” Jordan said. “And we want information about this hacking, and they won’t do it.”

The Trump campaign said the documents were “illegally obtained from sources hostile to the United States,” with the intent “to interfere with the 2024 election and sow chaos throughout our democratic process.”

The documents were sent to Politico and included a 271-page “dossier” that the Trump campaign put together on his last running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, back in February, the outlet said.

It included Vance’s past stances on issues, statements, and past criticisms of Trump in a section titled “Potential Weaknesses”.

Meanwhile, Jordan also said his committee has other questions related to GOP presidential nominee Trump, including why the Justice Department issued a “reward letter” from second-attempt murderer Ryan Routh, Who offered $150,000 to anyone who could “complete the job.” “Against Trump if he were to fail.

The DOJ, in a petition filed with the court last month, released Routh’s letter as evidence in a detention memorandum by the Justice Department in an effort to secure Routh’s custody.

Jordan also told Fox News Digital that he wants information from Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who testified last week that he would include details about confidential human sources from the FBI in his highly anticipated report on January 6, 2021 And whether they were embedded. In the crowd during the Capitol riot.

During the hearing last week, Horowitz was asked whether he would “reveal that there were confidential human sources at the Capitol” on January 6, and “how many people went into the Capitol?”

Horowitz replied, “I’ll get that information in the report.”

However, Horowitz indicated that his report would not be made public until after Election Day.

“Well, for God’s sake, it’s been four years,” Jordan said. “Why weren’t we given that information right now, right?”

But Jordan said that “the FBI will not sit with the committee.”

Jordan stressed that the House Judiciary Committee “is the authorizing committee for the Justice Department.”

“They won’t sit down and talk with our committee and that’s ridiculous,” Jordan said. “This is important information for the American people to know ahead of the resulting election.”

Fox News Digital has learned that representatives of the House Judiciary Committee began requesting the briefing during a phone call with the FBI on September 24. The Committee then received two phone calls on September 25 requesting a briefing with the FBI, one call on October 1 requesting a briefing with the Justice Department, and two calls requesting a briefing with the FBI on October 1.

Committee representatives also left a voicemail requesting a briefing for the FBI on October 1 and spoke again with the FBI on October 2, a source said.

An FBI spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the bureau “has consistently demonstrated our commitment to working with the Committee to accommodate its requests, and we have provided numerous documents and briefings.”

“The FBI recognizes the importance of congressional oversight and is committed to cooperating with the Committee in good faith,” an FBI spokesperson said.

But that cooperation has not met Jordan’s requests, the president said, and warned that all options remain on the table.

“We have served over 100 subpoenas in this Congress, so every option is on the table for us to try to get the information that we believe the American people deserve before we make a decision , like I said, in the election. So consequential,” Jordan told Fox News Digital.

“We have received important questions about important issues that affect our country and who is one of the leading candidates for political office,” he said. “For goodness’ sake, give us a briefing. Answer our questions.”
