Atal Setu, India’s longest sea bridge, has given a significant boost to Mumbai’s infrastructure while being environment-friendly. The bridge has increased connectivity between key regions thereby facilitating ease of trade and commerce, reducing travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai and improving access to Pune, Goa and South India. It has also streamlined the daily commute for residents of surrounding areas.
The three lines of Mumbai’s metro rail network have successfully managed to ease pressure on the city’s local train system and reduce road traffic. Along with ease of commuting, the metro has contributed to reducing emissions and also created more jobs. The first line connects Versova to Ghatkopar, while the second line runs between Dahisar and DN Nagar. The third line is the newest addition to Mumbai’s metro network and was recently inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi. The noteworthy thing here is that this is the first underground metro line of the city, which is also called Aqua Line. It runs between Bandra-Kurla Complex and Aarey.
The Mumbai Coastal Road, which connects the southern tip of the city with the western suburbs, has proven to be a game changer. The project has reduced congestion on high-traffic routes and revolutionized the way Mumbaikars experience the city. The coastal route not only helps passengers save travel time but also helps in keeping fuel consumption under control.
Located near Dahanu in Palghar district, Wadahwan Port is set to become one of the top 10 ports globally. Once operational, it will serve as a world-class maritime hub, boosting India’s trade prospects. Beyond the economic benefits, the construction and operation of the port will create millions of jobs for both skilled and unskilled workers.
Talking about NMIA and Naina, this ambitious project will reduce the pressure on Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Furthermore, a world-class airport of global scale will only act as a catalyst for the overall development of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai regions. Along with employment generation, this new airport will boost Maharashtra’s tourism sector, attract new investments and improve connectivity, establishing the region as an important economic hub and enhancing its international appeal.
