Best US employers in 2024 include Amazon, Alphabet and JPMorgan Chase: What attracts professionals to these companies


In today’s ever-changing job market, professionals are looking for an ideal workplace. While perceptions of an ideal work environment can vary greatly, a deeper analysis can reveal companies that truly foster employee development. A survey by LinkedIn called Top Companies 2024: The 50 Best Large Workplaces to Grow Your Career in America, A survey conducted in April 2024 has released a list of companies that have performed really well on several parameters as employers.
The report evaluates organizations based on eight critical factors that contribute to employees’ career development: advancement potential, skills enhancement, company stability, external opportunities, workplace culture, gender diversity, educational background, and employee presence. To be eligible, companies must have at least 5,000 global employees by Dec. 31, 2023, including a minimum of 500 employees in the U.S., with a layoff rate of less than 10%. Additionally, firms that have laid off 10% or more since Jan. 1, 2023, are excluded from consideration. The ranking focuses only on parent companies, integrates data from their subsidiaries, and relies on aggregated and anonymous LinkedIn data collected during 2023. Here are some of the companies that fared well in the LinkedIn study.

JPMorgan Chase

The first rank in the LinkedIn report goes to American multinational finance company JPMorgan Chase. It is one of the world’s leading financial services firms, operating in over 100 countries with over 260,000 employees.
Top US locations: JPMorgan Chase has a strong presence in major U.S. cities including New York City, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Columbus, Ohio. These locations offer a variety of opportunities in finance, business development, and engineering roles.
Secrets to happiness at work: JPMorgan promotes flexibility, with a portion of its workforce working in a hybrid environment. This flexibility allows employees to maintain a healthy work-life balance while achieving success in their careers. It also offers employee-friendly programs such as the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that provides support for personal challenges, emotional concerns, substance abuse, and workplace conflicts.

Amazon

Amazon It has been ranked second in LinkedIn’s report. It is a global leader in e-commerce, technology and innovation.

Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo is a leading financial services institution dedicated to serving the needs of its clients specializing in commercial banking, capital markets and debt recovery. The company emphasizes skill-based hiring, with over 90% of its positions focused on relevant skills rather than formal educational credentials. It ranked third in the LinkedIn survey.

Alphabet

Alphabet Inc. is a multinational technology conglomerate based in Mountain View, California. Alphabet is the parent organization of many companies, including Google, YouTube, Fitbit, Verily, Waze, and more. It is the second-largest technology company worldwide in terms of revenue after Apple, and is considered one of the most valuable companies in the world. LinkedIn reports it is ranked 10th.

It is the second-largest banking institution in the US and ranks as the second-largest bank globally by market capitalization, after the JPMorgan ChaseBank of America is considered one of the Big Four banks in the United States. Bank of America is ranked 12th by LinkedIn.

Secrets to happiness at work: According to a report released by the Great Place to Work website, 85 percent of Bank of America employees consider it a great workplace, which is much higher than the 57 percent average for typical U.S. companies.
