Highlighting its grassroots appeal, the Trump campaign said the average donation in May was $70.27, with 25% of donors being first-time contributors to the former president’s 2024 reelection campaign.

Trump’s cash announcement comes in the wake of the money his campaign has shown. “Record-breaking” fundraising He was found guilty of all 34 felony charges in the first trial of a former or sitting president in the country’s history.

The former president’s campaign highlighted that in the first 24 hours following Thursday evening’s ruling, he and the RNC raised nearly $53 million, which counted toward May’s total.

The Biden campaign also raised money based on Trump’s decision, and a familiar source told Fox News that “the 24 hours following the decision were one of the best fundraising 24 hours for the Biden campaign since its launch.”

Biden’s May haul came without any major fundraising events held by the president. The Biden campaign says the vast majority of funds raised in May came from grassroots donors.

The campaign is using its funds to build a very formidable grassroots campaign in key battleground states and just hours ago on Thursday announced they had hired their 1,000th staffer. The Biden campaign has a huge organizational advantage over Team Trump when it comes to grassroots outreach and get-out-the-vote ground game efforts.

“The money we are raising is significant, and it is helping the campaign become an operation that is invested in reaching and winning over the voters who will decide this election,” Chavez Rodriguez said.

Biden’s campaign appears to have a big cash advantage over Trump, whose campaign did not report the amount of cash it had on hand when it announced its fundraising in May. Campaigns are not legally required to report those figures until late July, after the second quarter of fundraising has concluded.

After concluding the first fundraising quarter of the year, Biden had a cash advantage over Trump, $146 million to $88 million, at the end of March.

Trump aims to narrow his fundraising gap with Biden, who has regularly been ahead of Trump in monthly fundraising.

Trump’s April donations surpassed the record $50.5 million the former president’s campaign raised at a single event earlier in the month attended by the Republican Party’s top donors at the Palm Beach, Florida home of billionaire investor John Paulson.

Both candidates have held multiple fundraising events so far in June.

The president set a new fundraising record for the Democratic Party – according to his campaign – when he raised more than $30 million at a star-studded fundraising event in Los Angeles on Saturday with former President Obama, Hollywood heavyweights George Clooney and Julia Roberts and late-night TV talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.

And he raised $8.1 million at a fundraising event at the northern Virginia home of former Gov. Terry McAuliffe, where he was joined by former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State and former Senator Hillary Clinton, who was the Democrats’ flagbearer in 2016.

Meanwhile, Trump’s team claimed it raised nearly $27.5 million during a fundraising trip the former president made to California and Nevada a week ago.

Fundraising, along with opinion polling, is a key metric used to measure the strength of a candidate and their campaign. The money raised can be used for grassroots outreach and get-out-the-vote campaigns, staffing, travel, and advertising, among other things.
