Biden supporters in liberal media lash out at the president and ‘cried’ after Trump debate: ‘I’ve seen enough’

Many of Biden’s staunchest allies in the liberal media are turning against President Biden, following his widely criticized debate performance that saw pundits and Democrats call for him to oust Biden. His re-election campaign was put on hold and pass the baton.

Shortly after the debate, MSNBC’s Joy Reid suggested the president had failed in his job to “convince” the Democratic Party and allay their concerns about his ability to win the 2024 election.

“Joe Biden’s job tonight was to reassure them,” Reid said. “His job was to calm his party down, to make them realize, yes, I can do this. I have four more years. I have the ability, the stamina and the strength to do four more years. He didn’t do that. He did the opposite. He made them more afraid.”

Reid also admitted that his phone kept ringing throughout the debate, as political operatives, campaign workers and Democrats reached a state of panic.

He later added, “(Biden) is a real working-class white man who is exactly who Donald Trump’s base is, so he knows how to speak to them. He believes he’s the only person who can do that. The problem is, after tonight, his party doesn’t believe that.”

“Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough, who recently criticized An article from the Wall Street Journal It suggests Biden’s mental acuity is “waning,” he said on Friday, declaring his “love” for the president but acknowledging his debate performance raises questions about whether he should stand for re-election.

The host said, “If he were a CEO and he performed like this, would any company in America, any Fortune 500 company, keep him as CEO?”

Afterward, Scarborough said Biden “sadly did not rise to the occasion last night.”

Donny Deutsch, a regular guest on “Morning Joe,” made similar comments about Biden during the program.

He said, “If truth be told, I don’t believe that Joe Biden, a great man, a hero — he’s ten times a better person than Donald Trump — I don’t believe that he’s the best choice for us at this point in time.”

NBC News’ Chuck Todd declared that Biden looked like the “cartoon” painted by conservatives, particularly regarding his mental acuity. The debate follows a flood of liberal anger over a Wall Street Journal report earlier this month that questioned the president’s viability.

“And there wasn’t any clip tonight, was there? You saw it before your eyes,” Todd said.

The reaction on CNN to Biden’s performance was equally appalling.

CNN analyst discussed the growing fear There was a lot of talk about Biden immediately after his 90-minute confrontation with Trump.

CNN political commentator and former Obama adviser Van Jones was moved to tears during a roundtable discussion following the debate.

He said, “I just want to speak from my heart. I love the man. He’s a good person. He loves his country. He’s doing his best, but he had to pass a test tonight to restore the confidence of the country and the base. And he failed to do that. And I think there are a lot of people who would like to see him go a different way now.”

He added, “We’re still a long way from tradition, and there’s time for this party to find a different way to move forward, if he’ll allow us to do so. But this was not what we expected from Joe Biden, and it’s personally painful for a lot of people.” It’s not just nervousness, it’s painLet’s remember what we saw tonight.”

Following the debate, Biden biographer and CNN contributor Evan Osnos said many Americans who do not follow politics closely were “shocked” by Biden’s performance.

He said, “I don’t think there’s any other way to say it. This was clearly a man who had fallen way below where he was on the debate stage four years ago.”

Vice President Kamala Harris got into a spat with CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Thursday night after the network host told her that “some people within your own party” think Biden should possibly step down.

As Harris described Biden as strong on “policy and performance,” Cooper, who whispered that his presidency was a “new beginning” at his inauguration in 2021, interjected to say that was extremely disappointing to his supporters.

“Democratic lawmakers watching the debate were concerned about the performance. One said it was a disaster and another called it a trainwreck. Democrats were particularly concerned that Biden did not respond to Trump’s lies,” he said.

Cooper later suggested Biden on stage four years ago was a “very different person” than he was at the June 27 debate.

“I get what you’re trying to say about the hour and a half debate tonight,” Harris responded. “I’m talking about three and a half years of work performance that has been historic.”

Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics and a staunch Biden supporter, said his performance was “very poor.”

“It gives me no pleasure to say this, but President Biden’s performance was the worst by any major party candidate for president in that entire time period,” he said.

The longtime Biden supporter said that in addition to Democrats who are “privately seeking a replacement,” the current president has also lost the trust of many ordinary citizens.

“The Biden team still has a lot of repair work to do,” Sabato said.

“If we want to beat Donald Trump in November, I think so,” he added. “And I think Biden’s team saw this coming. I think that’s why they pushed for the debate earlier, so that they could have time to change their stance if they needed to.”

Friedman said the debate between Biden and former President Trump made him “cry.”

“To give America the greatest chance of stopping the Trump threat in November, the president must come forward and announce that he is not seeking re-election and send all of his delegates to the Democratic National Convention,” he said.
