late friday afternoon, the new York Times Launched Atomic bomb from space The incident occurred during the presidential campaign of presumptive Democratic nominee and incumbent President Joe Biden, when its editorial board shockingly called on Biden to drop out of the race.

It was a desperate and nearly unprecedented move. After all, the Times is not just the newspaper of record, but a veritable mouthpiece for all things the left wants, and it says Biden should never be president again.

Republicans can be forgiven for a moment of gloating over this, but as a wise man once said, be careful what you wish for, because the Grey Lady may be on to something here. In fact this may be the only thing that can sink Donald Trump.

New York Times editorial board calls on Biden to step down

As the radioactive dust begins to settle from Biden’s worst debate performance in English-language history, Trump seems more inescapable than ever. The televised exchange between his confidence and Biden’s confusion has become set in stone.

Donald Trump and Joe Biden

The surveys also show very positive signs in Donald’s favour.

That’s why the Times decided to launch this unprecedented Hail Mary pass, even over the objections of Democrat heavyweights Barack Obama and Bill Clinton on social media, in order to attempt to remove President Biden from the ticket.

And there are reasons to believe that such a plan could succeed.

Of course, it’s not as if the Democrats have a huge bench of excellent candidates to choose from. In fact, if Biden exits the scene, the one-time party of Jefferson and Jackson will probably be stuck with Vice President Kamala Harris. But even that might be an improvement.

The presidential debate between Biden and Trump was unprecedented

While it’s true that polls show the vice president is one of the less popular candidates than Biden or Cholera, he’s still not physically and mentally weak, and the historic nature of Harris’ potential candidacy could make things a bit better.

There are undoubtedly millions of Democrats who would like nothing more than to rally around the flag of a woman of color fighting against the racist evil of Donald Trump.

Kamala Harris

And honestly, at this point, almost anything would excite left-wing voters more than seeing Biden’s abilities and prospects for a second term eroded by age and poor performance.

There are other options. Gavin Newsom or Gretchen Whitmer, the same age as Biden, would look like the perfect young guns against Donald Trump, and even Andrew Cuomo could be forgiven for his Covid misdeeds if it helped him thwart Trump.

So yes, the Times editorial board is right. Replacing Biden is probably the Democrats’ best chance to hold on to the White House, but there’s one small problem.

The Democrats have been the party of Barack Obama since he defeated Hillary Clinton in 2008, whose third term Biden is currently completing, so any replacement would have to continue that.

So yes, the Times editorial board is right. Replacing Biden is probably the Democrats’ best chance to hold on to the White House, but there’s one small problem.

Kamala Harris might be willing to do it, but the Newsoms, Whitmers, and Cuomos of the world have their own ideas, their own advisers, and top policy experts. In short, if one of them wins, Obama might actually have to retire.

That’s not going to happen, at least not this time. Angry Obama supporters, who watched Trump take power in the White House in that famous photo eight years ago, are not going to let go of his grip on power.

So, while the Times may be correct in its assessment that the best way to prevent a Trump comeback rally at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is to get new people on the ticket, don’t get your hopes up.

And that’s good news for Donald Trump and the GOP, because right now Biden is possibly the weakest presidential candidate in 40 years and, unlike Jimmy Carter, he’s a ticking time bomb as he ages.

Does anyone really, honestly believe that Grandpa Joe can survive another 19 weeks without having a moment of “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” for two or ten more weeks?

Democrats face two distinct paths today, but The New York Times, which rarely has had the power to effect such a ticket change, points to the path it did not take, Joe Biden’s old path still seems the most likely route.

The Democrats held no primaries, kicked no tires. Biden vs. Trump was what they wanted, and now they’re getting it, well and hard.
