Buckingham Palace accused of shading Meghan Markle days after releasing her jam ad


Social media users have accused Buckingham Palace of betraying Meghan Markle by releasing a new advertisement.

On Wednesday, the official Instagram account of the royal gift shop, the Buckingham Palace Shop, posted a video of them assembling their strawberry preserves. The promo clip was shared a few days later Markle, 42, Launched her own strawberry jam, the first product to be released from her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

“Our strawberry preserves are made using only the finest berries and are delicious served in a variety of ways,” the Buckingham Palace shop wrote in the caption, adding a strawberry emoji.

The caption suggests several ways to enjoy the jam, including “on a scone as part of cream tea, on a crumpet, with a croissant and on toast.”

In the video, a woman was seen spreading jam on each of the recommended baked goods. Buckingham Palace The shop also invited its followers to take to the comments section and share their favorite ways to use strawberry preserves.

Another fan said, “I’m dying over the timing of this ad.”

“And this is how you promote a product,” said one follower.

“Wait, Did the Palace Subtly Troll Ms. Montecito?”. one social media user commented, referring to the California city where Markle lives with her husband Prince Harry, 39, and children Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2.

One fan declared, “Buckingham Palace will take over Montecito any day”, while another shouted, “There will be a jam war across the ocean.”

“Plates are flying in Montecito,” one Instagram user joked.

The Buckingham Palace Shop is the official royal gift shop and products can be purchased at its locations at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Holyrood Palace, as well as online.

The gift shop’s line of preserves, marmalades and honey is featured prominently at the top of its website. The Buckingham Palace Shop also sells porcelain, homeware, jewellery, books, food items, tea and spirits.

Meanwhile, Markle first teased American Riviera Orchard On March 14, when they launched a new Instagram account for the brand. No formal announcement was made by the former American actress or Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex sent jars of preserves to her friends and revealed that strawberry jam would be the first American Riviera Orchard product.

On April 15, fashion designer Tracey Robbins and Delfina Blaquier, photographer and wife of Polo star Nacho Figueras, were among the first to share a photo of strawberry jam on Instagram Stories.

The original trademark application for American Riviera Orchard was filed in February and covered textiles, cutlery, “jellies; jams; marmalades” and mixed foods. The filing also said the brand could include “coffee services in the nature of tableware; tea services in the nature of tableware; serving ware for serving food and drinks; decanters” and other beverage products.

Additionally, the filing states that cookbooks and retail space should be covered by the application.

However, Markle has hinted that there is more to come from American Riviera Orchard. The Duchess Filed two additional trademark applications on March 9 and March 19, which expanded the lifestyle brand into cosmetics and horticulture.

The March 9 application listed items such as bath soaps, body creams, cosmetics, essential oils, fragrances and incense. It also lists “non-medicinal skin care preparations; bath and shower gels and salts not for medical purposes; non-medicinal hair preparations”.

The latest filing on March 19 expanded the brand to include “gardening trowels; garden weeding forks; gardening shears; bags specifically adapted to hold gardening hand tools; garden tool gift sets, which include hand tools for gardening. “

American Riviera Orchard’s strawberry jam is not yet available for purchase, and it is unclear when it will be released. In the meantime, fans can join the waiting list on the brand’s website.
