Sarah Michelle Gellar shared her thoughts on why she is known as “tough” behind the scenes of her acting projects.
A video posted on YouTube on Tuesday said that 47 year old actress took part in fitness brand Alo’s “Break the Ice” segment, in which celebrities answer questions while soaking in a cold tub. During the interview, Gellar was asked about the biggest misconception people have about her.
“I think sometimes people think I’m difficult, because my expectations are very high and I work hard and I want everyone to have that quality, so I guess I can be a little intense sometimes,” the “Cruel Intentions” star said.

Gellar began working in the industry since she made her film debut at age 6 in the 1983 TV movie “An Invasion of Privacy.” In 1993, the actress landed her breakthrough role as Kendall Hart on the soap opera “All My Children,” which earned her $100 million. Daytime Emmy Awards for their performance.
Gellar has credited her experience on the show with helping her develop the discipline necessary to maintain a long career in Hollywood.
“I made incredible friends in that time and I learned incredible work habits, and soap operas are a lot of work, and I’m incredibly grateful for that time and the people I met,” Gellar said during an interview with TV Insider in 2021.
In a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gellar explained how her strong work ethic was misunderstood throughout her career.

“If people think you’re cheap, that’s better,” he said. “That way, expectations are lower.”
“There was a time when I had a reputation as a tough guy,” he said, using air quotes.
Gellar added, “Anyone who knows me knows that it’s been made possible by the fact that I’ve always given my 100 percent. I’ve never understood people who don’t. I’ve become a little softer (with my expectations from others) – I think it’s because I’m tired.”

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gellar’s former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” co-star Seth Green recalled how she was labelled a “bummer” and a “diva” when she raised her voice to her co-workers. Gellar played Buffy Summers on the hit show from 1997 to 2003.
Green, who played Daniel “Oz” Osbourne on the series from 1997 to 2000, explained that Gellar used her position at the top of the show’s call sheet to press for better working conditions and hours for her co-stars and crew.

“That show is just difficult“We were working crazy hours, and a lot of the things we were forced to do weren’t necessarily safe or under the best circumstances,” the 50-year-old actor told the outlet.
He added, “Sarah was always the first one to say, ‘We agreed this was a 13-hour day and it’s now 15 hours — we’ve got to wrap this up,’ or, ‘Oh, this shot doesn’t feel safe,’ when no one else on the cast and crew was on board.” “I saw her get called a b—-, a diva, all these things that she isn’t — all because she was taking the lead in saying and doing the right thing.”

Over the past few years, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” creator and showrunner Joss Whedon has been accused of fostering a toxic work environment on the show’s set.
During her appearance at The Wrap’s Power Women Summit 2022, Geller recalled worked for several years on a “very toxic male group,” which many fans interpreted as a reference to the way Whedon ran “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gellar revealed she has mostly avoided discussing the allegations.
“I’ve gotten to a good place where it’s comfortable to talk about it,” she said. “I’ll never tell my whole story because I’ll gain nothing from it. I’ve said everything I was going to say because nobody wins. Everybody loses.”

“I’m not the only person who’s been through this, and I hope that legacy doesn’t change,” she told the outlet. “I hope that this success gives back to the people who have done all the hard work.”
“I’ll always be proud of ‘Buffy,’ I’ll always be proud of what my co-stars did, what I did. Was it an ideal situation to work in? Absolutely not,” he said.
“But it’s OK to like ‘Buffy’ for what we’ve created, because I think it’s so brilliant.”
