“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our husband/father/grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 28,” his family said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.

While music was part of his soul, Kristofferson earned critical praise in “A Star Is Born.”

Kristofferson earned multiple times Grammy Awards During his decades-long career in the music industry, which began long before the release of his debut studio album, “Kristofferson” in 1970.
