David Marcus: Project 2025 lies reached Hershey before the truth came out

Wherever I go, in every nook and corner of the country that I have approached during this election, I hear this, threatening words Project 2025. don’t worry about it Donald Trump This has nothing to do with Project 2025, even though the lies he is spreading are coordinated lies between Democrats and the media, but the truth is that it is working.

In this town of 15,000, famous for its chocolate, I met Mark and his service dog. He’s a retired military man and told me, “Nobody does research, people just believe what they’re told,” adding, “I’m Gen X, we had actual libraries, we had to look things up…”

“The Dewey Decimal System?” I said.

“Absolutely, thank you,” he replied. “Now people just accept what Google tells them.”

Mark may be right, because usually, in fact almost always, voters who bring up Project 2025 to me have no real understanding of what it is or what it entails.

It may be the case that, except for a handful of people Heritage Foundation Where this Frankenstein monster of a policy project came into being, no one on earth knows what it contains.

A woman in Virginia recently told me, “I heard it was a list of rights that Republicans want to take away, like on abortion.” When I asked for details, she admitted she was simply relying on generalizations from Democrats and the media.

But, far more important than what is or is not in this 900-page policy treatise is that it has nothing to do with Donald Trump, and never has.

At every turn since Project 2025 became a major campaign issue, Trump has denied it, said it would have no impact on his presidency, and, frankly, he doesn’t even know what’s in it.

So on what basis are the Democrats and their worthless media allies trying to place this burden on Donald? Only through the worst kind of half-truths and lies our democratic system has to offer.

J.D. Vance wrote the foreword! Trump’s critics insist, and he did so in 2022, not only at a time when no one thought he would be Trump’s vice presidential candidate, but at a time when many thought not Trump, but Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would be the presidential candidate.

We’re then told that the project involves dozens of former Trump officials, and that yes, Heritage is a think tank, it doesn’t have a college draft or use Indeed.com for recruiting, it’s run by former political policy officials.

You can’t wag a finger at liberal think tanks like the Center for American Progress without also pointing to former Obama or Biden staffers, but no one is suggesting that Kamala Harris plans to hand them the keys to the federal government.

No, Trump’s alleged connection to and allegiance to Project 2025 is a blatant lie, and that’s probably the best argument that he should not accept a second debate with Kamala Harris, especially on CNN, which pushes this particular lie daily.

In the first debate, when Harris made wild claims about Trump and the project, none of the moderators intervened to fact-check her, as they did repeatedly with Trump. It seems as if the ABC anchors were involved as well.

This desperate and persistent lying about Project 2025 by the Harris campaign and the other Harris campaign known as the liberal press has occurred precisely because Harris is unable to make a positive argument for her candidacy.

She failed in her fight against price rise. She refuses to say what she stands on on many issues, other than to say she is closer to the centre than she was previously, and she refuses to do serious interviews to explain her position.

So, what does that leave the campaign with? Basically, vice presidential candidate Tim Walz is lying about Project 2025 while fixing old cars.

Sadly, from what I can tell in my travels and conversations, it seems to be working, something that troubles Gen X Joe, who voted for Trump. “It’s just like white supremacists and everything else,” he told me, “Trump denounces it over and over again and it’s never enough.”

Mark Twain said that lies get around the world before the truth gets out. If that is the case, then Project 2025 is the heart print boxer shorts of the 2024 election, and time is running out to clothe this issue in truth.
