Several of President Biden’s allies defended the president on the Sunday morning shows for what many considered a major gaffe. Disastrous debate performance,

The first presidential debate between Biden and former President Trump left many Democrats in the media shocked and disappointed at the president’s performance. Biden’s raspy voice and vague answers raised concerns about the president’s age and mental state and whether he could serve another four years.

Some media outlets and Democratic figures have even said that Biden is set to withdraw and placed another Democrat at the top of the party’s ticket.

However, some Democrats tried to defend the president and attacked Trump, CNN, and even ostensible Democrats in the process.

Fetterman recalls ‘tough’ first debate as he defends Biden

During an appearance on “Fox News Sunday” Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pennsylvania, called on editorial boards such as the New York Times and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to demand that Biden drop out of the race.

Fetterman, referencing his lackluster 2022 debate against Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz after he suffered a stroke, said a performance is not the end of the world.

“None of that matters. I mean, I had the same kind of anger after the debate. And in fact, I might even say I had a more difficult evening than the president,” Fetterman said. “And I’m here right now, having this conversation. And I really want to remind everybody that right now Biden is one and Trump is still zero, and he’s the only person who has beaten Trump. And I really do believe that Joe Biden will do it again, even though all the Democrats are wetting the bed over this kind of thing.”

Fauci recalls ‘positive’ experiences with Biden

Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, was asked on ABC’s “The Week” if Biden should run for re-election. While he didn’t offer his opinion, Fauci said anyone should make their decision based on who they are as an individual and “how they feel, what they think they can do.”

“You know, I think it’s just a personal choice, and you can’t really generalize,” Fauci said.

Although Fauci declined to comment on the debate or things that would “have political implications”, he argued that he has had “very positive” experiences with Biden in the past.

“He asks in-depth questions. He’s precise about everything,” Fauci said. “So my personal experience with him has been very positive.”

Pelosi urges voters to focus on Trump, not debate

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi launched a direct attack on Donald Trump during her appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” program.

Although Voters expressed concern During the debate over Biden’s ability to serve another term, Pelosi argued the focus should be on the former president.

“Well, what do they think of the other guy?” Pelosi asked. “Do they think he has the integrity to be president after that performance? We shouldn’t be making a decision about the presidency based on one debate.”

“The fact that the response to Donald Trump’s lies is something that people are focusing on, and a debate where you have to spend half your time refuting what he’s saying because he doesn’t know anything about the truth,” he said. “There’s honesty on one side of the screen and dishonesty on the other.”

Former White House communications director says race ‘hasn’t fundamentally changed’

Former White House communications director Kate Bedingfield stressed that although polls show a majority of Americans think Biden is no longer capable of a second term, the debate will not change the election.

“The reality is that race has not fundamentally changed,” Bedingfield said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“I think there’s universal agreement that it was not a good night for Joe Biden. He said that too. But what we’re seeing from all the data that has come out since Thursday is that fundamentally there’s been no change in the momentum. People are not suddenly moving to Trump,” he said.

Bedingfield also stressed that voters were also dissatisfied with Trump’s debate performance, saying Biden could make a comeback on Thursday.

He said, “The challenge now for Biden is to go out, do what he did in North Carolina, show his energy, show that it was just a bad night. Every campaign recovers from a bad night…”

Clyburn: Nobody fact-checked Trump

Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., Criticism of the debate system He said this during a CNN interview with Dana Bash, host of CNN’s “State of the Union,” who co-moderated the debate.

“I don’t like a debate where nobody fact-checks,” Clyburn said. “You just say what you want to say. You know it’s a lie. The guy told 30 outlandish lies! And nobody fact-checked him! And said it was up to Joe Biden to do that. I’m not very convinced.”

He added, “If I ask you a question, and you lie to me in response, then I should go ahead and give you the facts and see how you react to that. So, in my view, that was not the way to plan a debate. And anybody who agreed with that should really think about what they’re doing.”

At the time, Bash reminded him, “Well, this was a debate that was previously agreed to by President Biden, who proposed the debate.”
