Singing a different tune

Vice President Harris She is shifting her stance on a number of far-left policies as she distances herself from President Biden and attempts to make a name for herself as a Democratic presidential candidate.

in his first policy speech North Carolina This weekend and again next week at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Harris plans to tell Americans who she is and how she will govern for the first time since essentially withdrawing from Biden’s presidential race and endorsing his presidential campaign.

In recent weeks, Harris has shifted gears on at least five major policy stances: mandatory assault rifle buybacks, fracking, immigration, health care and a federal jobs guarantee.

While campaigning for president in 2019, he supported a mandatory buyback program for assault rifles.

“We have to have a buyback program and I support a mandatory gun buyback program,” Harris said in October 2019, according to NBC News. “It has to be smart, we have to do it the right way. But there are at least 5 million (assault weapons), some estimates are as high as 10 million, and we have to have smart public policy that’s about getting them off the streets, but it has to be done the right way.”

A spokesperson for Harris said she would not push for a mandatory buyback program for assault rifles in 2024. …read more
