The three House Republican rebels pushing to oust Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., are remaining silent on former President Donald Trump’s support for the embattled congressman.
Only about six months after winning the post of Speaker, three weeks of turmoil followed his resignation from the post of Speaker. Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.Johnson is already in danger of losing it when R-Ga. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene filed a motion calling for a House-wide vote on her leadership, known as a motion to vacate the chair.
Two more lawmakers, Reps. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., signed onto his resolution in opposition to Johnson’s $95 billion foreign aid plan, which included money for Ukraine, Israel and the Indo-Pacific But nothing at the U.S. border, much to the dismay of some conservatives.
Johnson got some significant backup earlier this week when Trump came to his defense, arguing that Johnson is doing his best with a very slim House GOP majority.

Trump said, “It’s not like he can go off and do whatever he wants to do. I think he’s a very good man. You know, when I said NATO has to pay, he “Standed very strongly with me.” told radio host John Fredericks Following his Monday court appearance. “It’s a tough situation when I think you have a very good guy. I think he’s working very hard. And then, we have to have a big election.”
Gosar’s office told Fox News Digital that he had “no comment” on Trump’s defense of Johnson. Gosar has been one of Trump’s strongest supporters in Congress.
Spokespeople for Greene and Massey also had nothing to share — Fox News Digital attempted to reach both offices multiple times for comment on Trump’s comments, but did not receive a response.

Like Gosar, Greene has been a top Trump aide in Congress and a popular surrogate for him on the campaign trail. She has been one of Johnson’s harshest critics regarding his bipartisanship on issues such as government spending and foreign aid.
Massey has had a fairly cordial relationship with the former president, having endorsed his GOP primary opponent, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, before DeSantis dropped out of the race earlier this year.
Kentucky Republicans recently Trump accused “Bullying” fellow Rep. Laurel Lee, R-Fla., when she called out a primary challenger for taking him down.

However, both Greene and Massey have indicated that they do not regret their threats against Johnson since defending Trump.
Green said, “It’s surprising to hear the establishment complain that running another speaker’s race is too high-drama, too difficult, and too risky. All eyes are on Green; At present, there is nothing compelling House leaders to bring their proposal up for a vote. If she declares it a “privileged resolution,” lawmakers will be forced to take it up within two legislative days.
Most House Republican lawmakers have already signaled they have no appetite for another period of turmoil following McCarthy’s ouster.
