Strong rail and road connectivity, uninterrupted water supply, improved sanitation and sewerage systems, good governance, as well as protection and rejuvenation of water bodies – this is the blueprint for betterment Greater HyderabadCitizens have their say before voting day. Focusing on the four Lok Sabha constituencies covering the region – Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Malkajgiri and Chevella – over 4,000 Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) have collaborated to draft this comprehensive ‘Citizens’ Manifesto’. Representatives of the United Federation of RWAs (U-FERWAS), the apex body of RWAs of Greater Hyderabad, present this manifesto before all the candidates.

Malkajgiri Mini India’s big problems attract attention
The constituency covers seven assembly constituencies – Malkajgiri, Medchal, Quthbullapur, Kukatpally, Uppal, LB Nagar and Secunderabad Cantonment (SC) – and is the largest Parliament constituency in India in terms of voters. Among the many issues here, residents lament inadequate infrastructure including roads, public transport. This Lok Sabha constituency is also called ‘Mini India’ because people from all over the country come here.

major demands
● Construction of 5.3 km double decker corridor between Paradise Junction and Dairy Farm Road in Secunderabad on NH-44.
● Tadband Junction and Bowenpally, to end decades-long traffic problems.
● Improvement in MMTS (Phase II) and metro services for better connectivity in important areas including airport in Greater
● Hyderabad. New railway road over and road under bridges are also prominent at level crossings.
● Immediate conservation and revitalization of wetlands which are being encroached upon by land sharks.
● Widening of the road in major stretches to eliminate perennial traffic problems. Special focus on uninterrupted movement of civilian traffic through existing public roads in the defense sector.
● Addressing frequent power cuts, irrational property tax assessment.
● The merger of Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is being finalized to facilitate better administration and development. The matter is currently pending with the Defense Ministry.

Secunderabad: Problems of water, roads and floods should end
It consists of seven assembly constituencies – Secunderabad, Jubilee Hills, Khairtabad, Musheerabad, Amberpet, Nampally and Sanathnagar – and is located within Hyderabad district. Here the RWA has urged the parties contesting the elections to find a permanent solution to urban flooding.
major demands
●Addressing the irregular water supply which is currently limited to every three or four days instead of alternate days. Residents in Musheerabad, Nampally, Amberpet and Sanathnagar also frequently receive contaminated water, which needs to be stopped.
●Solution of urban flooding which affects major parts of this constituency almost every monsoon. The elected MP must raise this issue
● Parliament and resolve it on priority basis.
● To protect the iconic Hussainsagar, and prevent its overflow during floods, which affects dozens of residential colonies.
● Widening of congested roads, and construction of infrastructure projects funded by the central government.
● Early completion of Secunderabad Railway Station Project
● Preventing encroachment of water bodies by developers, marking buffer zones and reviving/protecting wetlands along the complex walls.

Chevella scheme key as realty boom reaches rural areas
It consists of seven assembly constituencies – Maheshwaram, Chevella (SC), Parigi, Vikarabad (SC), Tandur, Rajendranagar and Serilingampally – and is a mix of urban and rural areas. The real estate boom has changed the entire character of the constituency where the city’s IT sector is located.
major demands
● Addressing issues related to irrigation and agricultural development, as a large section of the population is involved in farming.
● Addressing rapid real estate growth without proper urban development planning to improve the quality of infrastructure.
● Early completion of the six-lane proposed state highway between Chevella and Hyderabad via Chilkur, and strict implementation of GO 111, which aimed to prevent pollution in a 10-km stretch around Osmansagar and Himayatsagar by restricting real estate development .

Hyderabad: Heritage city needs modern infrastructure
This Lok Sabha constituency covers seven assembly constituencies – Malakpet, Caravan, Goshamahal, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Yakutpura, and Bahudurpura – has a significant minority population, and a rich history and culinary heritage.

● To implement a comprehensive plan to eliminate urban flooding.
● Construction of a strong sewerage system to address the sanitation problems that have been troubling the voters for many decades.
● Remodeling and strengthening the existing supply network to ensure 24/7 water supply to all households.
● To solve the problems of air and noise pollution due to traffic and construction related issues.
● Securing UNESCO World Heritage tag for Hyderabad, revamping Musi.
● Augmenting public transport including MMTS, Metro and TSRTC with modern non-polluting fleet.
● Construction of mini-skywalks at major junctions.
● Reviving Nizam-era lakes within the constituency’s periphery and rejuvenating them by spending central and state funds.
