Harris supporters speak out against her border plan at Arizona rally

Supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris speak to Fox News Digital outside the Desert Diamond Arena on Friday. Glendale, Arizona Where he and his fellow candidate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, later took the stage.

Fox News Digital asked attendees to define Harris’ border policy and whether they support it. The discussion was often followed by a variety of follow-ups.

“I actually like all of them,” one woman said of Harris’s policies.

“Because I think she represents the average person in America. I don’t think she’s an extremist in any way.”

When asked about the border, the woman said Harris would lead the US out of the border crisis, as she would be fully in charge:

“Remember, she was the vice president, not the president,” he said.

“So, I think the policies that she will put in place will make a difference at the border. And we still have Mark Kelly,” he said, referring to Kelly, the retired astronaut turned Democratic senator who joined his wife, Gabby Giffords, on stage later in the evening.

The woman said she believed Harris would “bridge the gap” between Democratic and Republican differences on border policy.

He cited a bill drafted by Senators Kyrsten Sinema, I-Arizona, and James Lankford, R-Oklahoma, that Harris supported but was unable to get enacted.

“There was a bill that was passed, but it didn’t get signed because Trump didn’t want it signed,” he said. “There’s nothing perfect about it, but we’re ready to work on it, find ways to move people forward in a way that doesn’t hurt us in America, but also helps people who need it.”

Three women attending the rally from nearby Phoenix also took time to offer their opinions on Harris’ border policy.

One of the women said, “I think his policy is very much in line with Biden’s policy on that particular topic, and I think his approach is very healthy.”

Another woman said, “I think there are already enough laws in place to manage border policy … and the people who are here on asylum.”

“That’s what the administration is currently doing — they’re following the law,” he said, adding that it’s important to find out whether refugees have valid asylum claims.

A woman walking toward Desert Diamond’s east entrance said she was “not really sure about the border” when asked about Harris’ stance.

“I support it,” she said. “I don’t think too much into it. Where is Trump? (That) is out of control — I’m on this extreme side where we definitely need some border control.”

When asked if Harris would put such controls in place, the woman replied, “Right now, I hope so — I hope and pray yes.”

Lance, a veteran from Goodyear, Arizona, who wore a “Veterans for Harris; I’m Not a Loser” shirt, said Republicans focus too much on the border, but Biden and Harris have also worked on the crisis.

He indicated he was more disappointed by the Trump’s behavior He said he was more active on other fronts while in office, and noted that the Republican nominee had promised to pass an infrastructure plan but that it never happened.

“I definitely believe in a woman’s right to choose and equality for all people, including LGBTQ people,” he said. “This veteran is married to another man and I want that right to continue not only in the future, but for the younger generation.”

“Whether it’s health care, taxing billionaires and corporations instead of giving them tax cuts — and claiming to be alien to the average citizen, as Trump does, (Harris and Walz) are really for the average person. And I think their economic policies will be far better than the policies coming out of the (Trump) White House.”

“(Trump’s) health care policy was going to be like ‘no one had ever seen before,’ and he was right, because no one had ever seen it before.”

Lance said he considers himself a “left-liberal” and urged all Democrats who are not “100% satisfied” with Harris to unite the party across ideological lines to “preserve democracy.”

“I’ll be 71 in a month, and in my entire life, I’ve thought this is the most dangerous and treacherous time to be in the United States.”
