A new national poll shows that three-quarters of voters say the Democratic Party would have a better chance of keeping the White House than anyone else. President Biden Top of the party ticket.

And a poll released by CNN on Tuesday shows that Vice President Kamala Harris Biden has fared slightly better in a matchup with former President Trump, the presumptive G.O.P. nominee.

The new survey was conducted following Biden’s poor performance during the head-to-head contest between the two major party rivals last Thursday.

Biden, who at 81 is the oldest president in the country’s history, is facing the toughest phase of his bid for a second term in the White House after his stilted speech and faltering answers. According to the survey, 75% of voters and 56% of Democratic-aligned voters say the Democratic Party would have a better chance of retaining control of the presidency if Biden was replaced as the party’s flag-bearer.

By comparison, 60% of voters and 83% of Republican-supporting voters said the Republican Party has a better chance of winning the presidential election. Trump nominees Compared to anyone else.

The survey was conducted entirely from Friday to Sunday. last week’s debatealso tested other high-profile Democrats who have been mentioned as possible replacements in the unlikely event that Biden ends his bid for a second term.

According to hypothetical tallies in the survey, California Governor Gavin Newsom is trailing Trump 48%-43%, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who ran for the 2020 Democratic nomination, is trailing Trump 47%-43%, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is trailing Trump 47%-42%.

Biden’s campaign has repeatedly stressed that the president has no intention of dropping out of the race.

The survey shows that Biden’s support among Democratic voters has increased to 91% from 85% in April. Meanwhile, 93% of Republicans support Trump, which is equal to his support in April.

But the poll shows Trump has a 10-point lead among independent voters.

This CNN survey was released a few hours after a news report. USA Today/Suffolk University survey The survey, conducted from Friday to Sunday, showed Trump has 41% support among registered voters nationwide, and Biden has 38%.

While Trump’s lead in the new poll was within the survey’s error range of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, there were other warning signs for Biden.

According to survey data released Monday afternoon, 41% of Democrats said they would like to see someone else replace Biden on the Democratic Party ticket.

Only 14% of Republicans surveyed said they would like to see someone other than Trump on the Republican ticket.

“There’s no doubt that this debate has caused a stir across the political spectrum,” said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk Political Research Center. “Polling shows Democrats giving President Biden tough love, saying, ‘You’ve served us well, but try to see yourself through our eyes last Thursday night. Hold your head high, it’s time to go.'”

The survey also shows that among voters who support either a third-party or independent candidate, Trump now leads Biden as a second choice by 25%. That’s a change from late last year, when Biden had a solid lead.

The survey also shows that Trump supporters – 59% – are far more enthusiastic about their candidate than Biden supporters – 29%. If this huge gap in enthusiasm persists, it could prove crucial in convincing supporters to actually vote in the autumn election.
