Honeywell Suono P400 review: Focus on the looks

Rating: 3.5/5

Honeywell, which is primarily known for its expertise in home comfort solutions, has ventured into the audio category. It recently launched a bunch of Bluetooth speakers, including the Suono P400 – a move that is surprising given the company’s established reputation in other areas. With the Suono P400, Honeywell It aims to meet the needs of audio enthusiasts seeking a blend of functionality and style.
Apart from the performance and design of the speaker, one thing that is crucial in determining whether the company is successful in the competitive audio market is the price of the Suono P400. Interestingly, the Honeywell Trueno U5100 TWS earphones are a value-for-money offering (Review link), which combines affordability and functionality, clear sound and long battery life. We had similar expectations from the Suono P400 as well Bluetooth speakerIts price on Amazon is Rs 1,978.
Will Honeywell be able to establish itself in a market where other audio brands are already impressing with their price-performance capabilities? We’re going to find out in this review.

design

The Honeywell Suono P400 is a great looking speaker with a sturdy build. It is compact, heavy, although it feels a bit plasticky. The dark black speaker is adorned with red lining and elements, which make it look attractive. It has a cylindrical design and also comes with a strap to carry it around. It has a wrap-around mesh design and branding in bold, white letters.

There are two bass radiators on either side of the speaker that vibrate with the music and have RGB lighting. It can be used in both landscape and vertical mode. In landscape mode, the Suono P400 wobbles a bit while in vertical mode, to provide stability, it has resistance shoes.
The bass radiators on the Suono P400 pulsate rhythmically with the music while emitting ambient RGB lighting. The speaker can be placed both horizontally and vertically, although the manufacturer recommends using it in a tall stance as it includes rubber feet for stability when placed upright.
While the horizontal orientation offers a wider soundstage, the vertical position offers better stability. The IPX6 rating ensures protection from water splashes. Connectivity options at the back are: SD card, USB, Bluetooth and 3.5mm aux (cable provided in the box), and playback controls. The power button can be used to control the RGB lights.

Honeywell Speaker

The Suono P400 speaker features Bluetooth 5.3 for a stable connection, and the inclusion of a microphone is a practical feature that enables hands-free calls.

Display

The Honeywell Suono P400 Bluetooth speaker is equipped with two bass radiators and the 78mm drivers claim to deliver 15W of output. We tested the speaker with multiple songs and found the output to be fine, though clarity takes a hit at higher volumes.
For instance, we listened to the famous song Tauba Tauba. At low volumes, the bass is not that punchy, but the vocals are comparatively clear. Some people might like the controlled bass and the vibrating effect of the bass radiators. There are two front-firing speakers that offer a stereo effect, which is enough to fill a small room with good audio.

When we listened to Taal Se Taal Milaa, the story was the same. While the speaker handled Indian instruments like the tabla well, it lacked the thump. Melodious music and songs with an emphasis on vocals sound good. For instance, in Naseeb Se, the speaker did a good job handling the vocals without any significant distortion by the tunes and instruments.
We also listened to some western music like Don’t Leave Me Here by Coldsteez which is mainly vocals with a little bass as well. The speaker handled the vocals well but lacked a bit of depth. We think the sound of the speaker is okay considering the price and the solid build as well as features like RGB lights.

The Honeywell Suono P400 Bluetooth speaker comes with a TWS function that allows users to pair two speakers together, however, we could not test it due to the unavailability of multiple units. It has an integrated microphone that allows users to take phone calls. When it comes to connectivity, the Bluetooth v5.3 offers quick pairing with Bluetooth v5.3.

Battery

The Honeywell Suono P400 Bluetooth speaker has a 2,400mAh battery and fast charging technology supported by a USB Type-C port. It is claimed to deliver a total playtime of up to 10 hours on a single full charge. We found the company’s claims to be pretty accurate, however, it should be noted that the battery backup also depends on listening habits.

conclusion

The Honeywell Suono P400 Bluetooth speaker offers a great audio experience. It has a number of features that cater to different user preferences. The availability of extensive connectivity options, RGB lights, and attractive looks make it a fun element to add to your desk.
Overall, the Honeywell Suono P400 Bluetooth speaker is only suitable for casual listening and outdoor activities. It is for those who are looking for loud sound, RGB lights and cool design. Don’t expect much in terms of great sound quality.
