Lightfoot later issued a statement encouraging Hennard to cooperate with her investigation.

“I commend the Dolton Village Board of Trustees for decisively exercising their authority to override Mayor Henyard’s veto and prevent any attempt to block an independent investigation into the matters outlined in the resolution,” the statement said.

“They understand that village residents deserve a transparent and thorough process.”
