Shortly after he was nominated by the Democratic Party as its presidential candidate, identity politics returned to the forefront of the political culture wars. Vice President Kamala Harris as their candidate for President of the United States. Identity politics never went away; it has always existed in the machine of America’s racial politics. But this time it reappeared with such ferocity and absurdity that it left me somewhat exhausted.

I absolutely hate identity politics because it has never done anything for people in my community. South Side of Chicago. It just emphasizes our being black and leaves many of us underdeveloped to compete in today’s economy. It has labeled us inferior, that we are a violent people, and that we need pity or rescue. I know this because when I travel around America and tell people where I’m from, I get a certain kind of response that I know someone from Poughkeepsie would not get.

I also hate the idea that the color of my skin will determine who I vote for. This is why I was disappointed when I saw #BlackWomenForBiden trending on X right after Harris’ announcement. Harris has not been the best public servant for black men and women and should be judged on her public record. Yet, under the theory of identity politics, black women should ignore her actual actions and vote for her because she has the same skin color? My city of Chicago is run by a black mayor, a black district attorney, and countless other black officials and yet the violence and corruption persist. Not to mention Baltimore and other black-run cities.

Black Pennsylvania voters say Kamala Harris isn’t black in viral CNN clip: ‘For me, no’

In contrast, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson is black, but you wouldn’t know it. That’s because he governs as a mayor, not as a black man. Black mayorsHe rules with reality, not black politics. He rules for everyone, and that is how it should be in today’s America.

Then I saw “White Women for Kamala Harris” trending and wondered, are white women really that miserable? Shannon Watts, a leader of this movement, preached that it was the responsibility of white women to elect a black woman. She berated white women for checking their white privilege, doing “the work” and never talking about or opposing a black person. She said nothing about Harris’ qualifications. It was just white this and that and black this and that and nothing but good old racism. We need to start calling these white women racists and shame on all the blacks who feed off of their elitism.

I think you know who’s in my next rant. Yeah, “White Dudes for Harris.” Wow. I didn’t see it, but I heard it was a pity fest about how dudes need to check themselves Toxic Masculinity And do the right thing. All I have to say here is where were you in the 1960s when it was needed? When Black people really needed help to be a part of America? In the 70s? In the 80s? Even today, for crying out loud. We can always use volunteers in our community to expose our people to new ideas, paths and opportunities. I never see them around – because they were on Zoom calls preaching their goodness in voting for a Black woman. White people for a Black woman – that’s all I have to say about it.

It’s not just Democrats who practice blatant identity politics. Last week, I was scrolling through X when I came across a post from the DailyWire’s Matt Walsh that read, “Almost everyone is afraid to tell the brutally honest truth about the crime epidemic.”

I immediately knew who he was talking about: blacks. Then he went on to explain in his video segment how politicians and activists are blaming gas stations and cars for the violence instead of directly blaming the criminals.

Let me just say that I’ve been saying this to Walsh for a long time. He acts like he’s some brave soul who’s willing to tell the truth when we’ve always told the truth – we’re not afraid to speak with brutal honesty about the root causes of the problems in our community.
But Walsh will never know about that. He’s never been here.

The furthest he has gone is to his podcast studio, where he plays identity politics and stigmatizes entire races for cheap clickbait. And if he thinks this is only a “black” people problem, he needs to get out more. I’ve been to “white” cities devastated by lack of jobs, drugs, violence and, yes, increasing fatherlessness. It’s time for Walsh and other Republicans to stop using blacks as their whipping boys. But white identity politics doesn’t sell as well as black identity politics.

Most of all, what I dislike about identity politics is that it Focus on racial tribalism rather than our greater humanity. That’s why I’ve disciplined myself to look beyond caste to the harsh realities that haunt my neighborhood.

Only by looking at reality and all its complexities can I begin to formulate answers to problems. And none of these answers are race-based. They are all about developing ourselves to the best of our abilities, increasing pathways to opportunity, and instilling the unmistakable all-American principles of merit, responsibility, and accountability.

Shame on all those leftists and rightists who lack discipline and exploit identity politics for votes and clicks. They are our biggest problem today and as long as we continue to give power to these racist idiots, America will not get better.
