India Predicted XI vs Bangladesh, T20 World Cup: Is Shivam Dube’s time over?

Suryakumar Yadav’s much-awaited half-century and Jasprit Bumrah’s reliability with the ball helped India get off to a great start to their Super 8 campaign of the T20 World Cup 2024 as they registered a 47-run win against Afghanistan at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown on Thursday. The Rohit Sharma-led India are currently second in the Super Eight Group 1 standings and are set to take on another Asian opponent in Bangladesh at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on June 22. A win against the Bangla Tigers will almost ensure India’s passage to the semi-finals.

Ahead of this exciting encounter, let’s take a look at India’s probable XI against Bangladesh.

Predicted XI

Rohit Sharma(Captain)

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has not performed well since scoring an unbeaten half-century against Ireland in the first match of the tournament. However, the explosive opener has scored 76 runs in the tournament so far.

With over 4000 runs in T20Is and a strike rate of 139.32, Rohit has always been a great opener in the format. Moreover, the Hitman has also scored 454 runs against Bangladesh in T20Is at a strike rate of 141 and he would want to continue his dominance over them.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has always performed brilliantly in the T20 World Cup. However, this time the Indian superstar is having trouble scoring runs in the USA and the Caribbean countries.

It is said that with a brilliant average of around 50, Kohli has dominated the 20-over format by scoring over 4000 runs. Moreover, he averages 96.50 against Bangladesh and it is only a matter of time that Kohli will return to form in the ongoing tournament.

Rishabh Pant(Wicketkeeper)

Rishabh Pant is perhaps enjoying his best World Cup campaign since his international debut for India. Returning from injury, Pant scored 446 runs for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 and established himself as the first-choice wicketkeeper in India’s starting XI for the T20 World Cup.

In this T20 World Cup, the left-handed batsman has scored 116 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 131.81. His free-flowing style and intent with the bat will be the X-factor for India against Bangladesh.

Suryakumar Yadav

World No. 1 T20 batsman Suryakumar Yadav is a vital member of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad. His unconventional approach to batting at No. 4 provides both aggression and stability to India’s middle order.

Suryakumar’s two consecutive half-centuries have boosted his confidence as the explosive batsman has so far scored 112 runs in four matches at an average of 37.33. Indian fans would want SKY to continue his excellent form in the tournament.

shivam dubey

Shivam Dube performed brilliantly in IPL 2024 and scored 396 runs and was selected in the T20 World Cup squad due to his performance for CSK. His power-hitting and easy medium pace provide versatility and all-round options to the Indian team.

Apart from a crucial 31 against the USA, the left-hander has struggled in the tournament so far and will be desperate to make the most of his opportunity with a Super 8s match against Bangladesh coming up.

hardik pandya

Hardik had an up and down IPL season with Mumbai Indians. He could not perform well with the bat, but did take 11 wickets. However, he is part of the team because his role as a finisher and medium pace bowler provides balance to the Indian team.

The all-rounder has taken seven wickets in four innings at an economy of 5.57 and is one of the highest wicket-takers for India in the T20 World Cup 2024. He also showed glimpses of returning to form with the bat by scoring 32 runs off 24 balls against Afghanistan and will be one to watch out for against Bangladesh.

ravindra jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round abilities have provided depth to India’s playing XI in the ongoing T20 World Cup. However, the star all-rounder has failed to live up to expectations in his four matches so far.

The left-hander has scored only seven runs in two innings and picked up just one wicket in the tournament so far. Needless to say, he would want to make his presence felt against Bangladesh.

Axar Patel

Bowling all-rounder Axar Patel had a good outing in IPL 2024 ahead of the T20 World Cup. The left-arm spinner took 11 wickets in 14 matches for Delhi Capitals at an economy of 7.65.

Axar has taken 53 T20 wickets in 56 matches for India and on his day, he is a very good spinner in the white-ball format. Interestingly, he has taken a wicket in every match in this tournament and can prove to be a useful option with both bat and ball against Bangladesh.

Kuldeep Yadav

Left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav performed brilliantly for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024. With 61 wickets in 36 T20 Internationals for India, Kuldeep is currently one of the best leg-spinners in the world.

In his last appearance in the tournament, he took two wickets against Afghanistan and is expected to take wickets against Bangladesh as well.

Jasprit Bumrah

With an impressive economy rate of 3.46, Jasprit Bumrah has taken eight wickets in the T20 World Cup 2024 and is currently leading India’s bowling unit. His class against Afghanistan was worth watching, as he took three wickets and bowled 20 dot balls.

Bangladesh batsmen would not want to face the lethal pacer and another stellar performance can be expected from the pacer as he would look to add another wicket to his 82 T20I wickets.

Arshdeep Singh

Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is thoroughly enjoying the 2024 T20 World Cup and has been consistently picking up wickets for India, especially in the early and final stages of the innings.

Arshdeep has taken 10 wickets for India in the tournament with an economy of 6.93. He registered his best bowling performance in a T20I (4/9) against the USA and will be keen to continue the strong performance when India face the Bangla Tigers.
