CNN’s Dana Bash and J.D. Vance clashed during a contentious interview Sunday, as the GOP vice presidential nominee accused Bash of giving Gov. Tim Walz and Vice President Kamala Harris “multiple choice answers.” During your interview There will be a meeting with him in August, and the Vice President will also be allowed to “rest”.

“Dana, would you like to ask me questions and then I’ll answer them or would you like to debate me on these topics?” Vance asked, repeatedly stressing that it was his constituents in Springfield, Ohio, who told him that immigrants were “eating pets.”

The interview was focused on Donald Trump’s claim The issue was also discussed during the ABC News debate on Tuesday. The former president claimed Haitian immigrants are eating cats and dogs, though Ohio officials have said there are no credible reports of such behavior.

Vance continued, “I noticed when you have Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, you give them multiple-choice answers to the questions you ask, and you allow them to answer the questions. I’m happy to be here to talk about policy, but if you’re going to interrupt me every time I open my mouth, then why am I doing that?”

“I think I would do that if Kamala Harris and Tim Walz were making racist claims about people eating dogs and cats, and they wouldn’t answer questions about that, I would have a similar conversation with them. As you know, I’m very grateful that you came on the show, as I am for other Republicans. But this is something that you’re hearing from your constituents. I’ve done a lot of reporting. I’ve talked to people in Ohio over the weekend, and they’re really concerned by these claims,” Bash responded.

“Policies, yes, I agree with you, what I have heard is that there is concern about these migrants, there are too many of them and integration is not happening fast enough and sufficiently, and that is a perfectly legitimate conversation to have,” he said.

Thousands of Haitians have arrived in Springfield since the COVID-19 pandemic, and residents have pointed to an increase in crime, rowdiness and car accidents due to the huge influx of new residents. In a city of 58,000 people, about 20,000 Haitians have arrived, according to city officials,

Bash pressed Vance again on his claim, stressing that the media did not begin reporting on the impact of immigrants on Springfield until he and Trump raised the issue.

“The evidence is first-hand accounts from my constituents telling me that this happened and, by the way, I’ve been trying to talk about the problems in Springfield for months and the American media has ignored it. Just last week there was a congressional hearing about angel moms who lost their children because Kamala Harris allowed criminal immigrants into this country who then murdered their children. The American media completely ignored this stuff until Donald Trump and I started talking about cat memes. If I have to make up stories that will make the American media actually pay attention to the suffering of the American people, that’s what I’m going to do, Dana, because you guys are completely leaving Kamala Harris on the sidelines,” Vance said.

He further accused Bash of Hit back at Harris for casting the deciding vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, which he argued “is the reason so many Americans can’t afford food and housing.”

Bash further pressed him on his comment about making up stories and asked him again about the veracity of the story.

Vance fired back, arguing that the claim came from his voters.

Vance responded, “I say we’re creating a story, which means we’re creating the American media to focus on it. I didn’t create 20,000 illegal immigrants to come to Springfield because of Kamala Harris’s policies. Her policies did that, but yes, we created the actual focus that allowed the American media to talk about this story and the suffering that Kamala Harris’s policies have caused.”
