JD Vance: Why Taylor Swift used Benjamin Button to support Kamala Harris | World news

There is a Hindi proverb:

better late than never

which means “better late than never.” For a long time, many people hoped that Taylor Swift To support the Democrats. This was predicted even before Kamala Harris became a presidential candidate. Some in the MAGA crowd believed that during Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs would beat the San Francisco 49ers in overtime, and then Taylor Swift would not only get engaged to Chiefs player Travis Kelce, but also announce her support for Biden-Harris.
The Chiefs won in overtime, but there was neither participation nor endorsement of Biden. Since then, much has changed, with Biden dropping out 75 days ago and Harris becoming the Democratic nominee. Swift’s endorsement for Harris did not come immediately.
There had previously been speculation that Swift had “at least” endorsed Harris in an Instagram post, but it was just a photo of her backup dancers. There were also rumors that she would perform at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), but that never happened.

In the midst of all this, a group calling itself “Swifties for Trump” emerged, although most of their posts were created by AI. Trump also shared an AI-generated photo of Taylor Swift supposedly endorsing him and said: “I accept.” It wasn’t exactly a deepfake as the mainstream media labeled it, but as Tim Walz said, it was “weird.” At the same time, another group, “Swifties4Kamala”, began organizing events in support of Harris.
During one such event, legendary singer Carole King performed a short version of her favorite Swift song “Shake It Off” and shared tips on door-to-door campaigning, citing her own long history of political activism. Senator Elizabeth Warren praised the participants, saying, “You are resilient and know how to stand up to bullies. That’s the purpose of the Harris campaign — to stand up to bullies.” Donald TrumpOther speakers included Representative Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania, Representative Becca Balint of Vermont, and North Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Anderson Clayton.
The much-anticipated endorsement from Swift finally came the night after the debate, in a message that can only be seen as a scathing rebuke to Trump and MAGA supporters.

After watching the debate, Swift said a fake AI version of herself supporting Donald Trump compelled her to speak out. She wrote: “This brings me to the conclusion that as a voter I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
She added: “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. It’s your job to do the research, and it’s your job to make the choice. I also want to say, especially to first-time voters: remember you have to be registered to vote! I also think it’s easier to vote early. I’ll put more information on where to register and early voting dates in my story.”

Finally, she declared: “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady, talented leader and I believe we can accomplish so much in this country if we lead with peace and not chaos. I was so pleased and impressed by the selection of her partner @timwalz who has stood up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”
The most scathing attack came when she referred to herself as a “childless cat lady,” which was clearly a response to his statement. J.D. VanceWho criticized single, childless women, a policy position that MAGA is pushing.

Quick rebuke for Vance

J.D. Vance learned the hard way that “there’s no rage like denouncing Swifty” when his past comments about “childless cat ladies” resurfaced after he dropped out of Biden and endorsed Harris. In July 2021, Vance appeared on Fox News defending a speech he gave at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, where he criticized prominent Democratic leaders as part of the “childless left” and argued they have “no material commitment to the future of this country.”
Vance claimed, “Our country is effectively run by Democrats and corporate elites, many of whom are childless cat ladies. They’re unhappy with their lives and choices, and they want the rest of the country to feel unhappy, too. Just look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC — the entire future of the Democrats is in the hands of people without children. How does it make sense that we’ve handed the country over to people who have no direct stake in it?”
He further suggested that a “healthy ruling class” should prioritize electing people with children, because in his view they have a greater personal investment in the country’s future.
Swift’s fans, commonly known as Swifties, were quick to react to Vance’s comments. One Twitter user commented, “Taylor Swift is a self-made billionaire who has donated to every city on her tour. JD Vance started a charity that hasn’t helped a single drug addict.” Another confidently added, “I am eagerly awaiting the fallout from JD’s ‘cat lady’ comments. Oh it’s coming.” A third added, “Taylor Swift would destroy JD Vance on the debate stage.”

The story of benjamin button

Taylor first met Benjamin on the set of the “ME!” music video and fell in love with him instantly. The cat’s handler described Benjamin as a “snoring box” due to his constant snoring and after bonding with him, Taylor asked if she could adopt him. The handler confirmed Benjamin was available and Taylor knew she wanted to bring him home. Brendon Urie was equally impressed with Benjamin and during the shoot Taylor expressed how much she loved the kitten, often reflecting on how they first met in the video.

Choice of cats and dogs

A rumor being spread by the MAGA crowd claims that Haitian immigrants are eating pets. This false story, amplified by industrial-grade AI-generated memes, appears to originate from the case of a woman who was arrested for allegedly killing and eating a cat. The controversy began when right-wing users on social media capitalized on the arrest of 27-year-old Alexis Talea Ferrell, who was charged with animal cruelty. The charges included injuring animals, violating the protection of companion animals, and disorderly conduct. Trump also repeated the lie during the debate.
According to the report, Ferrell allegedly killed a cat by stomping on its head and then ate it in front of several witnesses, Fox News reported on August 16. The incident took place in Canton, Ohio, where police confirmed his arrest. Neighbors living in a residential area on 13th Street SE were horrified by the act.
Despite the fact that Ferrell has lived in the US for years, some conservative social media accounts were quick to link the incident to immigration, particularly from Haiti. One post claimed, “When you let a third world country into your country, you become a third world country too. Close the border and save our cats.” Another read, “If you like ducks or cats, Trump is your only choice in November. Otherwise, they are food for Kamala’s illegal Haitians.”
However, local law enforcement dismissed these claims. The Springfield Police Division said Monday that they had not received any reports of pets being stolen or eaten, stressing that the social media posts did not reflect any current concerns. “This is not something that is on our radar right now,” police said in response to rumors circulating online.
