“There are many important discussions and debates taking place about this political moment and the path forward, but the notion that the issue in the debate was the preparation process done by people like Ronald Klein and Anita Dunn, who have successfully prepared numerous candidates, including Obama, Clinton, and Biden, is absurd,” Psaki wrote on X.
He further added, “This was a bad debate. I have no doubt they were tough, strategic and direct. (Believe me I’ve seen them in action) But preparation doesn’t always determine the outcome. Biden was bad. The important conversation is about what happens next. But if you’re focusing your anger on ‘preparation’ you’re not talking about the right things.”

Klein responded on X, thanking Psaki for defending him.
Biden’s wife, children and grandchildren on Sunday used a gathering at Camp David to urge him to stay in the race and keep fighting despite his performance in the debate, and some family members criticized how his staff prepared him for the face-to-face battle, The Associated Press reported, citing four people familiar with the discussions.
According to politicoCriticism of the family was particularly leveled at Anita Dunn, a senior adviser who frequently speaks to the president; her husband Bob Bauer, a lawyer to the president who played former President Trump in rehearsals at Camp David; and Ron Klain, a former chief of staff who participated in debate preparation and mentoring sessions in previous cycles, Politico reported, citing three people with knowledge of the family’s conversations but not directly involved.
Politico further reported that his family complained that Biden “wasn’t prepared enough to go on the attack; that he was too caught up in defending his record rather than mapping out a vision for a second term; and that he was overworked and not getting enough rest.”

Biden also was questioning why Klein allowed the president to be bogged down by statistics and claimed Biden went to the Atlanta debate with a summer tan but had makeup on during the debate that made him look pale, according to The New York Times informed ofhe said, citing people closely involved in the situation.
Other Biden supporters have also pointed fingers at his preparation team.
John Morgan, Top Democratic donors A close associate of President Biden’s brother Frank publicly blamed advisers by name for the debate performance.
“Biden has been fooled by the value of Anita Dunn and her husband for too long,” Morgan wrote on X Sunday. “They should leave today. The fraud is colossal. This was political malpractice.”
Morgan told the Times, “It would be like you take a prizefighter who’s going to compete in a title fight and put him in a sauna for 15 hours and then say, ‘Go fight.'” “I believe the debate is entirely on Ron Klein, Bob Bauer and Anita Dunn.”
Biden campaign spokesman Kevin Munoz defended the advisers in a statement to Politico that was also sent to Fox News Digital, saying, “The aides who groomed the president have been with him for years, often decades, seeing him through triumphs and challenges. He places strong trust in them.”
A senior Biden aide also told Fox News Digital that the claims of frustration were “not true.”
