“All of this is happening,” he said, “and it’s all happening at once, and there’s a lot of noise in the head, and it’s kind of an out-of-body experience as well.”

During the competition, one thing she said “drove her crazy” was the buzzer, which contestants use to answer a question.

“There are so many moments when you think, ‘Okay, I got this,’ but it turns out you don’t get it because somebody else gets there first. And I didn’t anticipate how painful that part would be because it’s like, ‘No, no, but I know it.’ But this other person gets points for it in the score and, you know, the score goes up.”

Williams came over immediately and confidently said, “Right in the butt.”

Her answer was met with a moment of silence, then the audience laughed, then fellow contestant Tyra exclaimed “What?” and host Pat Sajak clearly said “No”, prompting a surprised look on Williams’ face.

The correct answer was “It’s the best!”

“Something as simple as) ‘Well, there weren’t enough letters for the word “right”‘ (or) ‘It’s a family show’ doesn’t cross your mind. When you have 50 monitors overhead, the lights are bright, there are 100 stagehands, producers, sound guys, none of that stuff crosses your mind,” he said.

“And I was standing next to Pat, so I had to say something. I wasn’t going to get excited without saying something. And the rest is history,” Williams said.

Williams said that she took a break from filming after the puzzle, and that this was the reason she took a break from filming. When the groom, Those he called “brilliant” did their best to support him.

“So, right then and there he tried to make me feel better and move on, but he immediately took a break. And in the break, Pat was very gracious, and he was very supportive and said, ‘Oh, you’ve made a name for yourself. We’ll see how we can edit this tastefully. I don’t know how, but we’ll figure it out.’ He was very accommodating, and he made me feel really good throughout the whole process after that. He’s really wonderful,” she said.

Williams also said White is “amazing” and praised the producers behind the scenes, though she realized his answer made the day a little difficult for her.

“They’re total professionals. I probably looked at them a couple of times and thought ‘he’s going to make us work today’. But they were great. They were gracious. They’ve seen it all before. They probably weren’t expecting this. But you know, they allowed me to continue with the show and hopefully everyone enjoyed it,” he said.
