The 3-year-old son of saddle bronc champion Spencer Wright died nearly two weeks ago when he fell off his toy tractor and into a truck. Utah RiverA family friend said he was drowning and suffering from lack of oxygen to his brain.

The child was airlifted to the hospital. Beaver Valley Hospital The incident followed a crash in Beaver Creek on May 21, Fox News Digital previously reported.

The boy remained in critical condition until the family decided to take him off life support on Sunday, family friend Mindy Sue Clark said. People Magazine,

“I can’t even describe how difficult the last two weeks have been,” Clark, who told Fox News Digital that she is best friends with the boy’s mother, wrote in a Facebook post Monday. “From the moment my phone rang I was so sad. the night of the accidentGot the message last night that he had to leave.”

The boy’s mother, Callie Wright, wrote in a separate Facebook post Sunday that her family had “faced our biggest fear” after “many sleepless nights, tons of research, multiple conversations with the best neurologists in the world, and millions of prayers.”

“Levi just showed us that he needed time to process all of this,” they wrote. “We prayed these things would inspire him to challenge the odds and prove to us that he wanted to be here, but now we see he just wanted to give us time to find peace with letting him go.”

The child was swept into the river at the same time his mother ran inside – when she came out she saw her son’s tractor lying on the riverbank and her son missing, she contacted authorities and formed a search party.

According to an earlier Facebook post, the boy began showing positive signs in his brain last week, briefly opening his eyes and responding to his sister’s voice on an EEG. There was hope of freeing the boy His breathing tube is being modified until more promising results emerge.

But the baby’s mother wrote in her post yesterday that she will soon “climb into bed with my baby and hold him as he falls asleep for the last time on earth,” adding that she finds “comfort in knowing he will grow up to be the perfect little boy he was before.”

Despite the tragic outcome, both Clark and Levi’s mother were surprised by the community’s response to the boy’s situation.

“I don’t want to focus on the bad or the sad things, even though it feels like someone ripped my heart out and squeezed it right in front of me. I want to focus on the many miracles we all witnessed during those 12 days,” Clark wrote in her post, referring to the time between the boy’s accident and his death on Sunday.

“Millions, if not millions, of people surrounded our best friend, prayed for him, and extended their loving arms to Levi and his family,” he said.

Before his death, his mother wrote in her post, Levy “exposed humanity to an entire country…bringing many to their knees and reminding them of what really matters in this world.”

The child’s father, Spencer Wright, 33, is ranked 40th in the world in saddle bronc riding. He and his three brothers made history in 2014 when all four qualified for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Wright ultimately won the championship.

The family was the subject of the book “The Last Cowboys” and was featured on an episode of “60 Minutes.”
