Rakesh “Rick” Kamal, 57, shot his wife, Tina, 54, and their 18-year-old daughter, Ariana, as they slept in their bed three days after Christmas. He then climbed into the bathtub and turned the gun on himself, killing himself. The Boston Globe reported.
The Kamals, who appeared prosperous to outsiders, were deeply in debt – and were due to be evicted from their 11-bedroom Dover mansion on five acres on the day of the murder.

Responding to a 911 call, The police entered The local newspaper quoted a 63-page police report as saying that when they arrived at the house on December 28, they found a typed note addressed to the person who was supposed to collect the keys.
“Please note,” it read. “Call the police before entering and first check the three bedrooms on the second floor. Each room will be marked on a white piece of paper.”

According to the report, Tina, aware of her mounting financial pressures, recently told Manoj that she wanted to “get her family out of the difficult situation they are in due to the recent stress.”

Manoj — who found the bodies and called the police — told investigators his brother had spun a web of deceit for years.
“(Manoj) feels that every conversation he had with Rakesh in the last five years was a lie,” his wife’s sister told the police.

Marybeth Bisson, the developer of the Kamal couple’s spacious home, also provided the family with financial assistance for its sale.
She told investigators that Rick started making excuses Nonpayment of mortgage and requested him not to discuss the situation with his wife.
On December 23, five days before the murders, a fax was sent to the company that held Tina’s $1.25 million life insurance policy, asking to add Manoj as a beneficiary.
The Kamal couple spoke to their relatives in India via FaceTime on Christmas Day and there was nothing unusual about the conversation, Globe reported.

The next day, Rick sent a message to his brother asking him to cancel the meeting. He also sent a message to Ariana’s boyfriend asking him not to come to meet the family.
The boyfriend told police that Ariana had shared some of her family troubles with him, and had at one point indicated that Tina wanted to leave her father, but they both seemed to be getting along fine.

At the same time, Rick was in regular contact with the developer of his home to discuss his departure.
After not having any contact with his brother for several days, Manoj went to the house called “Enchanted Acres” and called 911. The Kamal couple had purchased this mansion for around $4 million.
