“It (IPL) is a huge tournament and you don’t want to overdo it. I’m just focusing on one game at a time and any way I can help the team, (my motto is) let’s do it.”
“I was only practicing (during the break). When you take a break, people gossip a lot about it, they say a lot of things on social media,” Kishan said after the match. “But I think it’s important to understand that everything is not in the hands of the players. We can only make the best use of the break. That’s what it takes to have a good mindset.”
However, Kishan did not want to see his performance as a means of proving his point to his critics.
“There’s nothing I want to prove to anyone. I just have to go out there and have fun. I’ve learned that you don’t have to pressure yourself about things that aren’t in your control. Have to figure out what (yours) are controllable and what (yours) are uncontrolled.
“If I was the old Ishan Kishan, I might not have bowled well in the first two overs. I would have been under pressure. But with time I have learned that 20 overs is a lot and you can take your time.” You can have faith and move forward. So all these things helped me with that difference as well. Now we’ve lost a few games here, but I think most of the players, not just me, were willing to work with everybody. We’re doing well for the team individually and not knowing that other players. What they are going through, so I also know how they are feeling if someone is not performing well.
“So these things changed in me too that even when I’m not performing, if I know someone’s not feeling good, let’s talk to them, let’s find out what their mindset is. So it’s Things happened after that break.”
Hardik ‘likes challenges’, fans ‘will start liking him’
Kishan said, “He (Pandya) likes challenges, he has been in this situation before and is in the same situation now.” I know he will be enjoying it. I know him personally. I have spent a lot of time with him. He is up for challenges because you can’t complain to the fans, they will come with their own explanations and their own point of view. ,
Kishan said that Hardik can calm everyone’s anger with his performance.
“But knowing how Hardik Pandya thinks, he is happy with people doing that but I know in the coming matches he will do that with the bat and people will start loving him (again). People will appreciate your hard work. Even recognizing what you’re going through and still doing so well for your team, I think people recognize that.”
“Our fans will be a little harsh towards you, but at the same time when you perform well, or when you show that it is (still) not bothering you and (that) you are in very good shape, then it changes. If not today, then tomorrow, if not tomorrow, the day after tomorrow.”
