“The message that was most effective in influencing voters was creating a strong contrast between Democrat support for the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) and GOP support and opposition to the WHPA for providing real options and assistance to mothers in need,” the SBA wrote. “Our test characterized GOP support for needy mothers as providing women with real options to choose life and adopting policies that would streamline adoption services, increase the child tax credit, make baby items tax-free, and provide funding to pregnancy care centers and maternity homes. In addition, women should be informed about the financial assistance and adoption services available so they can make an educated choice,” the SBA memo said.
The SBA said it is committed to delivering its message in key presidential and congressional battleground states such as Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio and Montana.
But without individual candidates engaging with this message, the SBA indicated that Democrats would continue to find success in “spreading lies and fear” in favor of abortion access.

“Most importantly, the candidates themselves must understand this gap and put money behind it. The ‘ostrich strategy’ of candidates hiding their heads in the sand cannot be repeated in 2022.
