Pro-life group urges Republican Party to avoid ‘ostrich tactics,’ hits out at Democrats for wanting a ‘global abortion factory’

Major pro-life organizations Susan B. Anthony (SBA) Pro-Life America Republicans are urging candidates not to bury their heads in the sand ahead of the 2024 elections, but to call out Democrats as unpopular on the abortion issue.

Since the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision overturned nearly 50 years of precedent, which effectively Legalized abortionDemocrats attributed the political victory to the unpopularity of the pro-life cause.

But the S.B.A. a memorandum saidThe letter, sent to Republican leaders and committees on Monday, says Democrats’ message is more fear-mongering than fact, and it wants Republican candidates to emphasize that Democrats seek to add the U.S. “to the list of the most pro-abortion countries in the world.”

Here are the top 4 moments from the 2024 March for Life

“There are no protections for unborn children that Democrats can support, and they have consistently opposed protections for unborn children when they can feel pain, even opposing legislation to provide basic health care for a baby born alive after a failed abortion,” the SBA memo states.

Working with a pollster and a former Trump adviser, the SBA said it has a winning message for Trump. Republican candidates It focuses on providing support to mothers through all stages of pregnancy and delivery.

“The message that was most effective in influencing voters was creating a strong contrast between Democrat support for the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) and GOP support and opposition to the WHPA for providing real options and assistance to mothers in need,” the SBA wrote. The research was conducted by Adam Schaffer of behavioral science and political data firm Evolving Strategies.

The WHPA passed the House in 2022, but Failed in the SenateAccording to the SBA, the measure, billed as a codification of Roe v. Wade, goes far beyond upholding the 1973 abortion decision and would effectively make it impossible to restrict abortion at any level.

“In our examination, the WHPA was described as a sweeping federal law that would eliminate nearly all state limits on abortion, even those that limit late-term abortions on healthy babies and ensure parental involvement when a young girl becomes pregnant,” the SBA memo said.

The second part of the “victorious” message included support for pregnant women and help for mothers – including an expansion of the child tax credit.

“Our test characterized GOP support for needy mothers as providing women with real options to choose life and adopting policies that would streamline adoption services, increase the child tax credit, make baby items tax-free, and provide funding to pregnancy care centers and maternity homes. In addition, women should be informed about the financial assistance and adoption services available so they can make an educated choice,” the SBA memo said.

Pro-life conservatives are ‘disappointed’ by Trump’s new abortion policy, but stand with him: ‘There’s only one option’

The SBA said it is committed to delivering its message in key presidential and congressional battleground states such as Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio and Montana.

But without individual candidates engaging with this message, the SBA indicated that Democrats would continue to find success in “spreading lies and fear” in favor of abortion access.

“Most importantly, the candidates themselves must understand this gap and put money behind it. The ‘ostrich strategy’ of candidates hiding their heads in the sand cannot be repeated in 2022. This is especially important for Republican Senate candidates who are trailing in key races despite President Trump’s consistent lead over the top in those same states,” the SBA memo said.

Trump has Turmoil in the pro-life movement He has repeatedly called for a national ban on abortion after the Dobbs decision. He called Florida’s ban on abortion after six weeks of pregnancy cruel, but indicated he would consider a national ban on abortion at 15 weeks.

He also said that abortion should be banned. State issueHe has pushed back on calls for a nationwide right-to-life protection bill, but in numerous rallies and speeches he has criticized Democrats for wanting to legalize abortion both before and after birth.

“Democrats and their abortion industry allies will not stop until the US becomes a global abortion factory, where women are forced into abortions and have little choice but to choose life,” the SBA said. “If that happens it will put the pro-life movement in a worse position than it faced under the Roe ruling. We must unite and stop them before it’s too late.”
