On Monday afternoon, the two sides will introduce a resolution “referring the issue to the United Nations Security Council, and reaffirming that all measures will be taken to prevent the Iranian government from acquiring nuclear weapons.”

According to its website, the IAEA’s purpose is “to promote the peaceful uses of atomic energy and to prevent its use for any military purpose, including nuclear weapons.”

The proposal, which was first shared with Fox News Digital, states that the United States should commit to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and urges that it prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. It condemned Iran’s obstruction of IAEA monitoring and verification activities and called for sanctions on Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes.
“Iran is the world’s largest state sponsor of terror, and there is no greater national security threat than a nuclear-armed Iran,” Lawler said in a statement. “Unfortunately, a foreign policy of weakness and appeasement has only emboldened the Islamic Republic, which is now closer than ever to acquiring a nuclear weapon. Enough is enough.”
The five-page resolution stresses the need for a “coordinated international response to address the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear program and calls on all countries to join the United States in taking decisive action to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to uphold nuclear nonproliferation standards in the Middle East and beyond.”
Senators Bill Cassidy, R-La., John Cornyn, R-Texas, Tom Cotton, R-Ark., Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Thom Tillis, R-N.C., are co-sponsors of the Senate version of the proposal.
