Sean “Diddy” Combs has returned his keys to New York City at the request of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, three weeks after the music legend was seen beating his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a leaked video in 2016.

On June 4, Adams sent a letter to Combs, 54, informing him that the keys had been confiscated and urging him to return them immediately. Copies of the letter were sent to the New York and Los Angeles offices of the rapper’s company, Combs Enterprises LLC.

Deputy Mayor for Communications Fabien Levy confirmed to Fox News Digital on Saturday that the keys were returned to the city’s possession on June 10.

“Like many, I am deeply disturbed by the recent footage of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs assaulting his then-partner,” Adams wrote in the letter obtained by Fox News Digital.

He added, “I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all victims of domestic and gender-based violence. Our city has worked tirelessly to ensure victims are heard and heeded by our administration.”

“The Key to New York City is awarded to individuals whose service to the public and common good reaches the highest level of achievement, and who serve as a model for fellow and future New Yorkers,” Adams said.

“After internal deliberation, the Committee on Keys to the City of New York recommends that Mr. Combs’s key be revoked and repealed.”

“I have accepted their recommendation and request that Mr. Combs immediately return his keys to the city,” Mayor “The city’s records will be updated to reflect our decision.”
