So far, 10 NFL teams have refused to bow to the message of Pride Month

The calendar turned to June over the weekend and in case you missed it, let it be known that it’s Pride Month on television and radio, in your shops, everywhere on the internet, in your streets, on your flagpoles, in your classrooms (whether you like it or not), and at least one other place:

Continuous Most of the NFL,

Men sleeping with men, women sleeping with women, some men becoming women and some women becoming men — including those who say they are no longer men nor women — were celebrated by nearly two-thirds of NFL teams via social media on Saturday.

The message, sent to X via the team timeline, was sent by 21 of the NFL’s 32 teams to their approximately 42 million followers.

Some teams tweeted their support for Pride month, while others posted elaborate messages to show their support.

For example, the Washington Commanders said Pride Month is really about love.

And some teams took an extra step by sending out tweets and changing their logos or X banners.

Commanders, Buffalo Bills, And the Philadelphia Eagles changed the colors of their logo to match the Pride flag.

Some teams are actually in favor of Pride Month

The Vikings not only tweeted their support and changed their logo, but also changed the banner on the X account. It’s obvious they’re very excited about Pride month.

The Eagles took an interesting approach in that they didn’t express their support in full in the tweet. But they did change their logo to an X, making their support clear.

NFL?

It advances the LGBTQ+ agenda. It holds annual festivals with GLAAD and promotes other gay community events.

But the NFL did not tweet its support for Pride Month on June 1, instead retweeting tweets from the Chicago Bears and Jaguars.

Well, the comments section following the various teams’ tweets is full of similar comments, as one would expect. The comments reflect deep differences in opinions over the message of the month-long celebration.

Widespread support for the gay agenda

Well, this is all dog bite. If this was from the 1970s to maybe 2010, there would be no outward endorsement of Pride Month nationally by the NFL. But it’s been growing steadily for probably a dozen years or more.

So, it’s no surprise that teams are sending the message that they’re in favor of Pride Month in 2024.

On the other hand, the ‘man bites dog’ factor is seen when teams either oppose Pride month or say nothing about it.

And for the sake of clarity, no team has said it opposes Pride Month.

It’s clear that many people in the NFL and society don’t like Pride month for a variety of reasons. Some people don’t follow or agree with the gay lifestyle or agenda.

And some people, despite having no problem with gay people, don’t like Pride month being so ubiquitous, as if it’s being forced down people’s throats. These people would recoil if, say, a month-long puppy or straight-people celebration was forced down their throats every year.

However, in today’s world, mere silence is often construed as both support or opposition by hardliners on opposite sides.

So be careful: reporting on what the teams did No Tweeting a declaration of support for and participation in the celebration of Pride month is fair. It does not express opposition.

It simply states what it is: silence.

11 NFL teams will not participate

Over the weekend, 11 NFL teams decided not to tweet or acknowledge Pride Month. Here are the 11 teams:

Pittsburgh SteelersCleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons.

All teams in two NFL divisions — the AFC East and NFC West — tweeted in support of Pride Month.

Three or four teams in one division — the AFC North — remained silent on the topic while Baltimore celebrated Pride Month.

Three divisions – the AFC West, NFC North, and NFC South – were split between four teams, with two teams supporting the move and two teams staying silent.

And why does it matter? There are two reasons:

First, when teams take different approaches to the same issue, the accounts are newsworthy. So the direction the teams took is newsworthy.

Finally, the United States is divided. Lines have been drawn in politics. There are differences between liberalism and conservatism. There is a culture war going on.

And, yes, sometimes partners cross the line. Years ago, President Obama and President Biden said they defined marriage as a relationship between a man and a woman. President Trump told 60 Minutes in 2016 that he had “no problem” with gay marriage.

Despite this, Obama and Biden are classified as supporters of gay marriage and Trump is often accused of being against it.

There is no doubt that 21 NFL teams are clearly in favor of it. And the remaining 11 are silent on the subject.
