“Kamala turned her back on her failed liberal record and balked on countless critical issues. Kamala can run from her record, but she can’t hide from its consequences. She showed herself to be a policy hypocrite willing to do anything to get elected and regain power. She was clearly out of her league. In contrast, Trump showed himself to be a true leader, clearly explaining the policies needed to revive Main Street and the economy. In short, he was the president, not she.”

“Tonight’s debate wasn’t Harris vs. Trump, it was old Kamala vs. new Kamala. Despite her attempt to rewrite history on her support for the most radical policies on everything from the border and immigration, fracking and energy, Bidenomics and our fundamental government principles, it’s clear she still refuses to be honest with the country about where she stands,” Jessica Anderson, president of the Sentinel Action Fund, said in a statement.

In a statement, the Harris campaign wrote that Trump was “incoherent” and “angry” at the debate.

“Tonight, Vice President Harris dominated the stage on every issue that matters to the American people,” the campaign said. “Americans saw what kind of president Kamala Harris will be: one who will offer a new path for the country, who will be a president for all Americans, and who will end the darkness and division of Donald Trump once and for all. And she reminded the American people that she is the only candidate in this race who is ready to serve as our next commander-in-chief.”

The Trump campaign declared victory in its debate statement.

“President Trump delivered a brilliant debate performance tonight, highlighting Kamala Harris’s terrible record of failure to deliver results that have harmed Americans over the last four years,” the campaign said.

“We watched President Trump lay out his bold vision of America and how he would build on the successes of his first term by boosting the economy, securing the border, and stopping the crime that is ravaging communities across the country. In contrast, Kamala’s vision of America is a dark reminder of Joe Biden’s oppressive, big-government policies that she wants to continue. High inflation, a porous border that allows criminals and terrorists to infiltrate, and a soft attitude towards crime — that’s what Kamala represents.”
