In his new memoir, “The Friday Afternoon Club: A Family Memoir,” available Tuesday, Dunne details their friendship, including his claim that his wife lost her virginity to him while dating another man.

In an excerpt published in “The Sunday Times,” Dunn wrote, “First of all, let me get straight to the point and say that Carrie was never going to be my girlfriend. She knew long before I did that having a lover would only hurt our chances. Carrie was a virgin when we met, and she lived for every horrific detail of my sexual encounters: from my first kiss to the post-coital anxieties I shared with no one else. Her curiosity was so forensic that I felt like I was conducting an autopsy on a corpse.”

Strange as it may sound, there was a certain logic behind Carrie’s approach. Yes, it can be creepy, but not if you know what you’re doing,” Dunn wrote.

“Everything made sense at that moment, and we both understood that whatever we were doing under the covers wouldn’t make the slightest difference to our friendship,” the “After Hours” star wrote.

Like an eager puppy, I handed him nails or pulled hardware out of his worn-out canvas toolkit. In return, he’d give me one of his Marlboros, whose filters I’d cut off because that’s what he did.”
