Surekha created a major controversy on Wednesday by alleging that KTR was the reason behind Prabhu and Chaitanya’s divorce in 2021.
Reacting strongly to his comments, several prominent personalities from the Telugu film industry criticized the Congress leader, terming his comments as derogatory.
Naga Chaitanya’s father Akkineni Nagarjuna, who criticized the minister on Wednesday, has now filed a petition defamation case A case has been registered against Surekha in Nampally court under section 356 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
In his complaint, a copy of which was shared by son Naga Chaitanya on his social media, Nagarjuna has alleged that the minister’s comments have damaged the reputation of his family.
Many cine personalities like Chiranjeevi, Jr NTR, Mahesh BabuVijay Deverakonda, Venkatesh, Prakash Raj and Khushboo targeted the minister for his remarks.
As the controversy seemed to be getting bigger, the Telangana unit of Congress urged the cinema industry to put an end to the matter as Surekha withdrew her controversial remarks.
Speaking to media persons, Surekha said that she had to name the actors after she got emotional over the comments made about her by BRS working president Rama Rao.
“I had to criticize him (Rama Rao). I have no personal animosity towards anyone. Taking the name of a family was unintentional. I felt very bad after seeing his tweet (Samantha’s Instagram). Just last night, I Surekha had posted one and said, “I am withdrawing my comment unconditionally.”
On his Instagram story, Samantha Wrote that there was “no political conspiracy” behind her separation with Chaitanya, which was announced in 2021. In his note shared on Twitter, Chaitanya, son of top Telugu actor Nagarjuna Surekha, said the claims were “ridiculous”.
Samantha urged the Minister to be responsible and respectful of the privacy of individuals.
“My divorce is a personal matter, and I request that you refrain from speculating about it. Our choice to keep things private does not invite misrepresentation.”
She wrote on Wednesday night, “To clarify: my divorce was mutual and amicable, there was no political conspiracy involved. Can you please keep my name out of the political fight? I have always been non-political and so I want to continue.”
Chaitanya recalled that the mutual decision was taken by him and Samantha “after much deliberation”.
“This was a decision taken peacefully because of our different life goals and in the interest of moving forward with respect and dignity as two mature adults…
“What the minister has claimed today Konda Surekha Garou is not only a lie, it is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Women deserve support and respect. “It is shameful for the media to exploit and exploit the personal life decisions of celebrities for the sake of the media spotlight,” she said.
Earlier, Nagarjuna had strongly condemned the minister’s remarks in which he had asked him not to use the lives of film stars who stay away from politics to criticize their opponents.
The former couple also received support from fellow coworkers allu arjunChinmayi Sripada, and Nani.
Arjun condemned Surekha’s comments, calling them “baseless” and “derogatory”.

Nani, Samantha’s co-star in films like “Eega” and “Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu”, said it was not right for anyone holding a respectable position to utter “completely baseless nonsense” in front of the media.
Mahesh Babu said that he was deeply saddened by the minister’s remarks against a fellow member of the fraternity.

While Surekha apologized for dragging the former couple, she said that she would not back down from the comments made against her by the BRS party on social media and demanded an apology from Rama Rao for those comments.
On the legal notice sent by the BRS leader, Surekha said that she will proceed legally also.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President B Mahesh Kumar Goud, following the “controversy” that arose following the minister’s remarks, requested the film industry to put an end to the issue and said he had withdrawn his statement which would make him ” Sadness has happened.
The TPCC chief said he has spoken to Surekha on the issue and sought clarification.
Gaur also urged Congress leaders and ministers to be careful while speaking, a party release said.
Movie Artists Association president Vishnu Manchu, in a statement on Thursday, appealed to all leaders, politicians and people in influential positions to avoid using the names of actors and their families for political narratives or attention-grabbing headlines.
He said, “As a film fraternity, we work hard to contribute to entertainment and society, and it is my humble request that personal lives be kept away from public discussion.”
On behalf of the film industry he requested that families be protected from such undue and harmful attention.
