What is the risk of a terrorist attack in the United States by foreign nationals released at the border or released on parole by the Biden administration? No one knows.

Not me, not the FBI director. Chris RayIn an article published for Foreign Affairs on June 10, the former president said, CIA Deputy Director Mike Morrell writes that “the terrorist threat posed by vulnerabilities along the U.S.-Mexico border is ‘turning red'” but even he doesn’t know.

Risk is an estimate, e.g. Episode of “Gottaway”” who sneak into the country each year without being caught. This is not a count, as are the 194 known or suspected terrorists (KSTs) actually caught entering illegally in fiscal year 2024, which Customs and Border Protection (CBP) counts.

Experts warn that the threat of a terrorist attack on US soil has risen to alarming levels

More than 20 years ago, I had lunch with a Foreign Service officer who, while working in Saudi Arabia, issued visas to half of the 9/11 hijackers. At the time, young men from this prosperous, stable country were considered low-risk travelers. They went to American universities, spent money, followed our laws and came home. There are still good risks, but believe me, a single man from the Middle East who wants to come to the US for flight training is met with some questions.

After 9/11The US developed better screening methods, collected more information through fingerprint and facial scans, and improved inter-agency information sharing. This made it harder for known bad guys to get in – but not for those we didn’t have records of. China, Cuba and Venezuela have not been as forthcoming in providing such information.

Biden’s relatively open borders make it harder to assess, let alone prevent, the threat of terrorism.

We know that too many American lives have been taken by foreign nationals who had no right to be here. been rapedThis happened to a 13-year-old girl in New York City last week. Kayla HamiltonMurdered by members of violent gangs. Mothers like Rachel Morin whose death is reportedly the result of murder by a violent gang. Man from El SalvadorVictims of drunk drivers like Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza, who had already been deported back to Mexico 16 times after killing Scott Miller.

When it comes to terrorists, their actions are planned well in advance and well concealed. In May, two men — possibly illegal aliens from Jordan — were arrested after trying to get into the Quantico Marine Base in Virginia. Immigration and Customs Enforcement would not release their names.

The driver who killed himself trying to drive over Fort Story in Virginia Beach in April crashed and died, and the federal government has not yet provided Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin with his identity or status. As Youngkin wrote in a letter to Secretary Mayorkas requesting that information, only 11 Terrorist Screening Dataset (watchlist) individuals were apprehended at the southern border from fiscal years 2017 through 2020 combined, but we have already reached 104 this fiscal year.

The Jordanian citizen who tried to infiltrate Marine Corps Base Quantico was in the US illegally, sources say.

In fiscal year 2021, DHS found only 342 Chinese between ports of entry. Last year, it was 24,125. Crushed by the numbers, DHS half-heartedly interviewed them and let them go. In March, a Chinese illegal alien was caught in a “accidentally wandered off The attack took place at Twentynine Palms, California, the country’s largest Marine base. According to the Wall Street Journal, there have been more than 100 such random attacks allegedly carried out by Chinese nationals in recent years.

Terrorist groups are known to be active in border regions of the former Soviet Union such as Dagestan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The New York Post Recently Reported More than 1,500 Tajiks crossed our border illegally between October 2020 and May 2024, and more than 500 were “caught” this year alone. Recently, eight Tajiks were caught who had links to ISIS. What happened to those whose links were unknown? They were all later released.

In fiscal year 2021, CBP encountered only 3,675 Aliens of special interest, “people from countries identified by the U.S. government as being in situations that promote or protect terrorism or potentially pose some type of national security threat,” at the borders. Between October 2022 and August 2023, CBP encountered 74,904. That total included 659 Iranians and 538 Syrians – two places that harbor some of those who thirst for revenge against the US

Despite the obvious risks, our government is so oblivious to the potential disaster that they are allowing thousands of people (many of them young men) to enter our borders each day, without any verification of identity or criminal history.

In addition, they are releasing another 1,400 people on parole every day. From all over the world, but especially from Afghanistan, Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela. How many of the Afghans were victims of the Taliban? How many Haitians were civilians oppressing others on behalf of the government or criminal gangs, rather than victims of them? How many people from Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela worked for their communist regimes rather than against them?

Given these risks, it is sad to see the Border Patrol shift its energy from detaining and deporting illegal immigrants to welcoming them. Former Border Patrol chief Rodney Scott said From 70% of staff on patrol and 30% in administrative work, the ratio has now ranged between 10% and 90% as agents have been retooled as social workers.

In the meantime, the State Department is focusing on producing passports. ready-made penisThe CIA is painting nails for Pride Month, and the DHS has renamed Special Interest Aliens (“alien” is the term used in US law) to Special Interest Overseas – I think it should be inclusive.

It is only a matter of time before a preventable terrorist attack will be carried out in the U.S. by a foreign national. It is possible that the terrorists will be here on visas, like the 9/11 hijackers, but the unprecedented group of illegal aliens released or paroled by the Biden administration is a more likely source.
