Trump campaign The White House and President Biden’s campaign are demanding an apology for dismissing videos of Biden’s public mistakes and gaffes as “cheap fakes” and “misinformation” promoted by conservatives.
Following multiple instances of Biden standing still, being instructed by family or aides to exit the stage, or appearing confused during public events, the White House denounced such videos as “cheap fakes” promoted by the Trump campaign and its allies. According to the White House definition, cheap fakes are understood as real videos that are cropped or edited in an allegedly deceptive manner.
The Trump campaign fired back on Friday, saying that after Biden’s debate performance, “everyone is seeing that nothing about Biden’s decline is a lie.”
“It’s been just a week since our brilliant team @TrumpWarRoom and @RNCresearch were wrongly accused of editing a ‘cheap fake’ to make Biden look bad,” Carolyn Levitt, the Trump campaign’s national press secretary, posted Friday. “The Democrats, and of course their mouthpieces at Fake News, spread this ridiculous lie.”
He added, “We actually had to spend time fighting with ‘reporters’ over this ridiculous story and tell them that Americans can believe their eyes!” “Now everyone is seeing that there is nothing to be said The lies about Biden’s fallWe were right and only sharing the truth!”
“We will apologize now,” Levitt said, tagging the Biden campaign and some media outlets.
When asked about the Trump campaign’s call for an apology, the Biden campaign told Fox News Digital that Trump is a “liar” as well as “a pathetic loser.”
“Trump lied countless times during the debate and his campaign did, too, in real life and on the internet. Trump lied on Thursday about whether he called fallen soldiers stupid and failures, and he’s still upset that mainstream media fact checkers exposed his cheap lies. So of course, we’ll amend our previous statement: Trump is not just a liar, he’s a pathetic failure,” a Biden campaign spokesperson said.
After the clash between former President Trump and Biden, there was a demand for apology in the 2024 election cycle Biden faced criticism from conservatives and his traditional allies for his poor performance in the first debate on Thursday evening. The New York Times even suggested that Biden should drop out of the race due to his performance, which underscored already growing concerns about the president’s age and mental acuity.
Biden’s performance in the debate This included his voice becoming hoarse, at times losing the direction of his thoughts and stumbling on some answers. Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledged this week that Biden got off to a “slow start” in the debate, but defended his overall performance and his record in office since 2021.
Levitt told Fox News Digital that in addition to an apology from the campaign, Biden’s administration and campaign should “more importantly” apologize to Americans.
He said, “Both the Biden White House and the entire Democrat Party are directly involved in the largest cover-up in American political history — and the mainstream media is complicit in lying to the American public about Joe Biden’s mental state. They must apologize not only to our campaign, but more importantly to the American people for this massive scandal that has led to the downfall of our country over the last four years.”
Prior to the debate, Biden faced criticism for making multiple public gaffes and failing to understand cues, including at events abroad with fellow world leaders. These include: former President Obama grabbing Biden’s wrist and leading him off the stage at a fundraiser in Los Angeles this month; Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni instructing Biden to go back on stage group of world leaders This month, he stepped away from a group to give a thumbs-up to a parachutist in Italy; and a viral video showed the president standing relatively motionless during a Juneteenth concert at the White House.

The White House, after criticism of such videos, said they were “cheap fakes,” leading to a new term for the 2024 campaign that was mocked on social media by conservatives who argued the administration was “gaslighting” Americans.
“They’re cheap fakes … They’re done with bad intent. And some of your news organizations have been very outspoken, they’ve emphasized that these right-wing critics of the president have a credibility problem because fact-checkers have repeatedly caught them spreading misinformation, disinformation,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said of the cheap fakes earlier this month.
The Biden–Harris campaign also promoted the “cheap fakes” narrative, calling them “a big part of Trump’s campaign strategy”.

“Rob Flaherty, Biden-Harris Deputy Campaign Manager: Donald Trump is desperate to divert attention from his unpopular agenda. That’s why his campaign is using ‘cheap fakes,’ deceptively edited videos of President Biden. These doctored videos are a big part of Trump’s campaign strategy,” the campaign posted.
