Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan reminded Rahul Gandhi of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said that when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the leader of the opposition, he never tried to tarnish the image of the country.
Chauhan said, “Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the opposition and the post of opposition is a responsible post. I want to remind Rahul Gandhi that when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the leader of the opposition, he never tried to tarnish the country’s image on foreign soil… Due to losing for the third time in a row, anti-BJP, anti-RSS and anti-Modi sentiments have taken root in his mind… He is constantly trying to tarnish the country’s image. Tarnishing the country’s image is equal to treason… Who attacked the Constitution? Who imposed emergency? He goes on Bharat Jodo Yatra, but he is neither able to unite with India nor with the people of India.”
BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal, while reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s statement, said that people involved in corruption, scams and misusing the country’s resources get scared.
“Who is afraid? Only those people should be afraid who indulge in corruption, scams and misuse the resources of the country; they are the ones who should be afraid. But there is not a single person in the country who can say that he is afraid of the Prime Minister. Narendra ModiKhandelwal said, “Rahul Gandhi is saying this because PM Modi’s popularity is increasing among the people. Rahul Gandhi cannot tolerate this. That is why he is creating a narrative of an atmosphere of fear. This is wrong and misleading. The opposition leader should not make such irresponsible statements on foreign soil.”
BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said that the Congress party is afraid that their false propaganda will be exposed.
Bhandari said, “Today if there is fear anywhere, it is inside the Congress party. In Congress, when a woman talks about casting couch, she is suspended by the party. Today all Congress workers are scared because its high command is only protecting rapists or standing with the coalition of rape accused. Today the Congress party is scared that their propaganda of lies has been exposed. People chose PM Modi-led BJP in 2014, 2019 and Modi-led NDA in 2024.”
He said, “Rahul Gandhi is a double-digit party, he only pits people against each other. He enjoys when India is harmed, so he takes China’s side and lies about India. Today’s opposition is not constructive, it can even harm India for its political gains. People are scared of such an opposition. They are alert that they (opposition) can hatch any conspiracy against the country.”
Meanwhile, TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha He supported Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comment on ‘unemployment’ during his US visit and said that BJP people always have problems with him.
Sinha said, “I can give my general opinion and say that whatever Rahul Gandhi says or does Bharat Jodo Yatra, BJP people always have a problem with it. I am not Rahul Gandhi’s spokesperson, but as a general observer I can say that whatever Rahul Gandhi has said is correct.”
Earlier on Monday, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha in Virginia said that the fight is about whether Sikhwill be allowed to wear turban in India and will be able to visit Gurudwara.
He said, “First of all you have to understand what the fight is about. The fight is not about politics. It is superficial. What is your name? The fight is about whether he, as a Sikh, will be allowed to wear a turban in India. Or he, as a Sikh, will be allowed to wear a kara in India. Or a Sikh will be able to go to the gurdwara. That is what the fight is about, and not just for him, but for all religions.”
Furthermore, he continued his attack against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming that people will lose the “fear of Prime Minister Narendra Modi” once the results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are declared.
He said, “Something has changed after the elections. Prime Minister Modi tried to create an atmosphere of fear. Various agencies, the media, the Income Tax Department also tried to spread fear among small and medium-sized businesses. But nothing worked. The fear disappeared in a second. It took years to spread fear and a lot of money was spent, but it disappeared. You can see it directly in Parliament… and I can tell you that the idea of Prime Minister Modi, 56-inch chest, direct connection with God. All this is over. It is history now. He, the government and his colleagues in India, three or four senior ministers of his government feel this.”
Rahul Gandhi, who is on a visit to America, reached Dallas on Sunday. He interacted with students and teachers at the University of Texas and also addressed the Indian diaspora in Dallas and Virginia.
